S.H. Kujawa Funeral is Scheduled

Funeral Services for Sylvester H. Kujawa, a former recruiter for the National Guard, will be held 1 pm today at the Connelly Funeral Establishment, 300 Mace Avenue, in Essex.

Mr. Kujawa who was 26 and lived at 836 Brunswick Road in Essex was killed Friday in a bulldozer accident in Gunpowder State Park.

He was an employee of the Interstate Amiestie Corporation a paving contractor.

A sergeant in the National Guard, he had worked full time as a recruiter for a Special Forces Unit, at York Road and the Beltway, in Towson from February until September.

A native of Baltimore, he had lived in Dundalk area and had attended Sparrow Point High School.

In 1964 he left school and joined the Marine Corps, in which he served until 1967. He qualified as a parachutist, reached the rank of lance corporal and won the Silver Star, the Purple Heart and other decorations for service in Viet Nam.

He also was the holder of a certificate of honor given private citizens by the Baltimore Police Department.

Following his service in the Marines he worked as a longshoreman and in the construction business and joined the National Guard in 1971, serving first with the Support Company of the 1st Battalion of the 175th Infantry Regiment.

He is survived by his wife the former Annie G. Griffiths, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester A. Kujawa of Dundalk.
