BROWN – On the 18th instant, after a long and painful illness, which he bore with Christian fortitude, DAVID BROWN, in the 48th year of his age. [Columbus (Ohio) papers please copy.

                Dearest father, thou hast left us,
                We thy loss most deeply feel;
                But ‘tis God that hath bereft us,
                He can all our sorrows heal.

The relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral on to-morrow (Wednesday) afternoon, at three o’clock from his brother’s residence, No. 33 Jackson street.

HARTLEY – On the 17th instant, after a lingering illness, SUSANNAH HARTLEY, aged 83 years, leaving five children and a large circle of friends to mourn their irreparable loss.  A friend to the bereaved, a mother to the orphan.  May our end be like hers.   MARSHALL – On the 18th instant, MARY ANN, in the 48th year of her age, consort of Capt. Ennall J. Marshall.

Appleby, Caroline - At Woodberry, Baltimore county, on Saturday, 15th inst., Caroline Appleby, wife of James Appleby, aged 56 years.
     In towsontown on the 14th inst., after a short but severe illness, Mary Catharine, Wife of Charles Ridgely Ware, aged 22 years, 3 months and 26 days, formerly of Frederick City, Md.
 

DEDICATED MRS. MARY C. WARE
Why should our tears in sorrow flow,
When God recalls his own;
And bids them leave a world of woe,
For an immortal crown!

Her toils are past, her work is done,
And she is fully blest;
She fought the fight, the victory won,
And entered into rest.

Then let our sorrows cease to flow,
God has recalled his own;
But let our hearts in every woe,
Still say--"Thy will be done!"

Bowen
On saturday morning, 7th inst., at the residence of his brother-in-law, near Rossville, Baltimore County, John T. Bowen, aged, 50 years.

Grishard
Ka,es Grosjard. aged 67 years, died 28th August, at his residence, after a serious and painful illness.  In the launguage of Tupper:
"Keep silence, daughter of frivolty,
For death is in that chamber:--
He hath auatomised soul and body."
You, he hath invaded the domestic circle and taken away the old man whose hoary locks had for some time past been pointing as an indes towards the tomb.
The young may die--the old must:  so it was with the venerable old man who is the subject of our remarks.
Time, in his rapid rolling car, has borne him away, ere he reached three score years and ten, "to that bourge from which no traveler returns."
After passing the meridian of life he was struck down by organic disease of the nervous system, from which he never recovered ere his death, not-withstanding the best medical aid had been brought to his bed-side.
After a well spent life, beloved by friendsfar and near, he was called to answer the great summon of the Omnipotence, --whose power is irresistible when the patient falls a victim to that malady whose atmosphere is surrounded by death.
Medical skill had been taxed to the uttermost bounds of science to save him from the grave; but with all the mighty potentates who had worshipped at the shrine of Esculapius, that ministered to his disease, none were able to do more than palliate his sufferings.  The Great Physician on High overrulled their skill, and took him from the stage of notion in this life "to fairer worlds on high."

ABURN- On the 22n instant, after a lingering illness, which she bore
with Christian fortitude, SUSANNAH, wife of John Aburn, in the 74th year
of her age.
Jesus, while our hearts are bleeding
O'er the spoils that death has won,
We would, at this solemn parting,
Calmly say--Thy will be done.

Though cast down, we're not forsaken,
Though afflicted, not alone;
Thou did'st give, and Thou hast taken,
Blessed Lord, Thy will be done.

Though to-day we're filled with mourning,
Mercy still is on the throne;
With thy smiles of love returning,
Help us to say--Thy will be done.

By thy hands the boon was given,
Thou hast taken but thine own;
Lord of earth, and God of Heaven,
Evermore--Thy will be done.

CAIN-With a painful illness, on the 23d of September, WELHELMINA, only
daughter of James T, and Margaret Cain, aged 1 year 3 months and 15

bore with patience and resignation, FREDERICK GIESREHN, in the 43d year
of his age.

Do not mourn because I leave thee,
God has called me home to dwell:
Kiss me, wife, and kiss me, children,

MANNING    On the 7th instant, THOMAS MANNING, a native of Chiden, County Galway, Ireland, in the 41st year of his age.  May he rest in peace, - Amen.  His funeral will take place this (Tuesday) afternoon at half past three o’clock, from No. 23 East Monument street.

son of Caroline and the late Captain Robert Hutson.

   KELLY - Departed this life, on the 20th instant, after a long and painful
illness, Kate, beloved wife of Wm. Kelly, in the 32d year of her age.

this (Friday) morning, at quarter past eight o'clock, from the residence of
her brother-in-law, No 95 McElderry's wharf, from thence to proceed to St.
Vincent's Church, where High Mass will be offered for the repose of her soul.

   LEAKIN - At Spring Hill, Baltimore county, on the 20th instant, General
Sheppard C. Leakin, in the 78th year of his age.
   His friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral on this day,
(Friday) 22d inst., at twelve o'clock, from the residence of N.P. Campbell,
No. 50 Bolton Street.

   MULCAHY - Departed this life, on the 20th inst., Patrick Mulcahy, aged 33
years, a native of the parish of Knockea, county Limerick, Ireland.  May he
rest in peace.
  His relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral on
this (Friday) afternoon, at half-past two o'clock, from his late residence,
No. 3 Ulrick alley.

   THOMAS - Departed this life, at half-past ten o'clk on Wednesday evening,
20th instant, after a painful and lingering illness, Barbara A. beloved wife
of John P. Thomas, in the 35th year of her age, leaving a large family and
numerous friends to mourn their loss.
   The relatives and friends are respectfully requested to attend her funeral
this (Friday) afternoon, at two o'clock , from her late residence, No. 299
Alsquith street, without further notice.

   TAYLOR - At Mount Pleasant, Baltimore county, on the morning of the 21st
inst., Elijah Taylor, in the 82d year of his age.
   His male friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral on
to-morrow (Saturday) afternoon.  Hacks will leave the residence of his son,
Jacob H. Taylor, No. 174 West Fayette street, at quarter before two o'clock.

   WHITE. - On the 20th instant, near Ellicott City, Md., Mrs. CATHERINE
WHITE, in the 82n year of her age.
   Sleep, dearest mother, sleep,
      Cold is thy pure white brow;
   And on thy pale face a smile of peace
      Is lingering even now.

   Idly the hands are laid
      On a worn and weary breast,
   And never again will the still heart throb
      In struggles of wild unrest.

   Farewell, my children, weep not for me,
      For me breathe not a sigh;
   For when life is a burden,
      'Tis a pleasant thing to die.

   KNIGHT- Near Aberdeen, Harford county, Md., on the 11th instant, William
Thomas, son of Joshua W. and Anna M. Knight, aged 3 months and 11 days.

        He can all our sorrows heal.

   WARNER - Suddenly, on the 4th instant, at Cockeysville, Md., Thomas C.
Warner, aged 43 years, after being afflicted for a long time with rheumatism
and periodical attacks of heart disease, all of which be bore with Christian
fortitude and resignation to the will of God.  [Baltimore County Advocate

     His languishing head is at rest,
        Its thinking and aching are o'er;
     His quiet, immovable breast
        Is heaved by affliction no more.
