This community was shocked Sunday afternoon when it learned that Mr. James Langrall, senior member of the firm of J. Langrall & Bros., who operate canneries at Centreville Landing, had died very suddenly at Winton, the home of Mr. Wm. B. Earle, on the Chester river, about seven miles from Centreville. Accompanied by his wife Mr. Langrall left Baltimore Friday evening with the intention of coming to Centreville, where his canneries were about to begin operation. Mr. Langrall had been complaining for some time of stomach trouble, but appeared to be enjoying his usual health Sunday. He was cheerful at the dinner table and portook of a hearty meal. He arose from the table and shortly after retired to his room. About 4:30 he had occasion to walk across the room, when suddenly he fell across the bed and expired immediately. It is supposed that death was due to heart failure. For several years Mr. Langrall has operated canneries at Centreville Landing, and during that time he has made many friends in this community. The remains of the deceased were taken to Baltimore Monday afternoon on the steamer Gratitude and placed in a vault. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, at East Baltimore Station M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. E. L. Hubbard, of Washington, assisted by Revs. W. L. McDowell and W. I. Kenney. Interment was made in Loudon Park, and Masonic services were held at the grave. Delegations from the Royal Areanum, Edin Conclave of Heptasophs, Concordia Lodge of Masons and the Ancient Order of United Workmen attended the funeral.
