MR. JAMES LANGRALL'S WILL
Property Divided Among Church, Relatives and Friends.
The will of the late James Langrall, admited to probate in the Orphans’ Court yesterday, gives $200 to the trustees of the East Baltimore Station Methodist Episcopal Church for improvements to the church and the balance of his estate to relatives and friends.
Mrs. Mary A. Langrall, widow of Mr. Langrall, is bequeathed the dwelling 2212 East Lombard street with all its contents, the house t her death to become the property of Mr. Langrall’s children. J. F. H. Langrall and Mrs. Evelena Miles.
William M. Sinclair, grandson of Mr. Langrall’s second wife, is given $100.
Ella Brown, Gabriel Johnson and Joseph Johnson, all colored, are to receive $25 each.
One-third of the residue of the estate is to go to Mr. Langrall’s widow.
Of the remaining two-thirds Leander Langrall is left $5,000 in trust for each of Mr. James Langrall’s grandchildren, Mary E., Eugene L., Evelyn A., James F. and Annie I. Miles, children of his daughter, Mrs. Evelena Miles, and $2,000 in trust for each of his grandchildren , Margaret and Mary Louise Langrall, children of his son, J. F. H. Langrall.
The residue of the estate is to be divided equally between Mr. Langrall’s son and daughter.
The will states that Mr. Langrall desired that the business conducted by him and his brother, Leander Langrall, as J. Langrall & Bro., shall be continued four years, or for a greater or less time, as Leander Langrall may desire, the son and daughter of James Langrall to be his representatives. The interest of the testator in the property at the northeast cornor of Chester and Aliceanna streets occupied by his firm is held by him as a member of the firm the will states.
Mr. Langrall’s brother, Leander Langrall, is named as executor without bond.
The will is dated January 20 last. Mr. Langrall died August 5.
Will of James H. Langrall. –The will of Mr. James H. Langrall, who died
at "Winton," the home of Mr. W. B. Earle, Sr. , Sunday, August 5, was probated
Monday, in the Orphans’ Court, Baltimore. It makes the following distribution
of his estate; To his wife, Mary A. Langrall, his dwelling at 2212 East
Lombard Street, for life. At her death it is to go to his children, J.
F. H. Langrall and Evelena Miles. He also leaves his wife all the furniture
and other personal effects in the house at that number. To William S. Sinclair,
son of his second wife, $300 in cash. To Elizabeth B. Ross, daughter of
his second wife $300 in cash. To William M. Sinclair, grandson of his second
wife, $100 in cash. To the trustees of the East Baltimore Station Methodist
Episcopal Church, to be used in making improvements, $200 in cash. To his
servant, Ella Brown, colored, $25 in cash. To Gabriel Johnson, colored,
$25 in cash. To Joseph Johnson, colored, $25 in cash. To his wife, Mary
A. Langrall, one-half of all the residue of his estate of every kind. The
remaining two-thirds of his estate he disposes of as follows: To Leander
Langrall, in trust, for the use and benefit of his grandchildren, (children
of his daughter, Evelena Miles), May Elizabeth Miles, Eugene Langrall Miles,
Evelyn Amelia Miles, James Francis Miles and Annie Irene Miles, the sum
of $5,000, $1,000 to be invested for the personal benefit of each until
each shall arrive at the age of 21, when each shall be entitled to the
principal, $1,000. To Leander Langrall, in trust, for the use and benefit
of his grandchildren, (children of his son, J. F. H. Langrall), Margaret
Langrall and Louise Langrall, $1,000 each, to be invested for their benefit
until they shall reach the age of 21, when they are to receive the principal.
The rest and residue of the estate of every kind is left to his son, J.
F. H. Langrall, and his daughter, Evelena Miles, share and share alike.
The will stipulates that his brother, Leander Langrall, is to continue
the business of J. Langrall & Bro., of which both were equal half-owners,
for a period of four years, or for a greater or less period, at the discretion
of his brother, and to have full control, assisted by the testator’s son
and daughter, stipulation that they are to be paid for their services,
and that his wife is to be entitled $25 a week from the proceeds, to be
charged to her account. The will was executed January 20 last. His brother,
Leander, was made executor.
