Book 6, 30 Jan 1799
"In the Name of God Amen I Sarah
MacCubbin of Baltimore County in the State
of Maryland Spinster being weak in body but of sound and perfect
recollection and Memory but considering the uncertainty of this life, and
that all flesh must come unto death, do therefore make and ordain this my
last Will and Testament as followeth. First and principally I bequeath
my
soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it me and my body the Earth to
be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named
First I
Will and desire that all my honest debts be paid and Satisfied. Item I
will
and desire that the Negroes hereafter named viz. Joe Peg, Toby, Ben, Dick
and John together with all my cattle and Sheep be by my Executor sold at
public sale and the amount thereof together with all my property and Estate
of every kind Except such part thereof as is hereafter otherwise disposed
off, be put to Interest for the use of Samuel Dorsey and his heirs, son of
Edward Dorsey of Edward of John and Deborah Dorsey his wife; But in case the
above mentioned Samuel Dorsey should die before he arrives at the age of
twenty one years then I will and desire that all my Estate above mentioned
should become the property and Estate of Robert Dorsey, son of the above
mentioned Edward & Deborah Dorsey and in case the said Robert Dorsey
should
also die before he arrives at the age of twenty one years then the whole of
the above mentioned Estate shall be equally divided between Elizabeth Dorsey
and Ann Dorsey her sister they being also the Children of the aforesaid
Edward and Deborah Dorsey - Item I will and bequeath to Edward Dorsey of
E'd. of John and his heirs, my negro boy Sam untill he arrives at the age of
Twenty one years at which time I will and desire that he may be manumitted.
Item I give and bequeath to my loving Sister Deborah Dorsey all my Wearing
apparel, and also all my beds and bed furniture together with all my Linen
of every desciption, as also all my Chairs Tables and household furniture of
every kind; Item I give and bequeath to my said loving Sister Deborah Dorsey
one Case Containing one Dozen silver Table spoons to her and her heirs for
ever. I do hereby Constitute and appoint Mr. Edward Dorsey above
mentioned
to be the whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament
according to the true intent and meaning thereof In Witness whereof I have
to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal this 30th day of
January Anno: Domini 1799
