Considering the uncertainty of this transitory life Amen. I Charles Pierpoint of
Baltimore County do make and publish and declare this my last Will and Testament
in manner and form following first
of all I give and bequeath all my personal Estate to my wife and also the third
part of my real Estate during her natural life. And Secondly,
my plantation in Baltimore County containing five hundred acres or
whereabouts. I leave to be sold and the money equally divided amongst my
six sons, Joseph, Amos, Benedict, Samuels, Walter and Thomas also I leave that
morty (? Sp) of lands in Baltimore County known and distinguished by the
name of The Traps for the Olds Fox containing nine acres more or less to my
youngest daughter Polly to be sold and the money give to hers. I also leave my
son in the place where he now lives containing twenty five acres more or less,
he to pay for it according to contracts. Thirty pounds spcie (?)
I also leave my son Joseph, my executor to bring the young children up,
put them to trades as fast as they grow up and when they are fit to go to trade
for themselves to have their money given then to set them in business. I declare
this my last will and Testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal
this 3 day of May in the year of our Lord 1785, and be it further known that if
any of the aforementioned of my six sons should die without Heirs then in that
case his part to be divided amongst the rest. Exclusive of In (?). I also
include my son Amos with Joseph to be my executor of all, everything which shall
or may occur relative to my estate in what manner or form so ever. In witness,
where I conclude as followers, I Charles Pierpoint do acknowledge this
instrument of writing to be my act and deeds according to the true intent and
meaning there of as witness my
hands and seal this third day of May in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven
hundred and eighty five.
