Book 5, page 409, Reuben Ellis, 17 Mar 1796

 

“In the Name of God Amen I Reuben Ellis Methodist Preacher being at Baltimore Town in State of Maryland considering the Uncertainty of this mortal Life and being weak in body but of a sound mind and memory do make ordain and Constitute this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say-

First I resign my soul to God who gave it and my body to the Earth from whence it came to be decently Intered at the discretion of my Executrix  And after my just debts are paid  Item I give and bequeath to my nephew Reuben Ellis son of my brother Michael Two hundred acres of Land Deeded to me also one hundred and fifty acres of Located Land adjoining the aforesaid two hundred, all lying and being on the North fork of Fishers Creek in Wilks County in the State of North Carolina to him and his heirs forever.  Item I give and bqueath to my beloved wife Polly Ellis all the residue of my property both real and Personal and of every kind whatsoever to her and her heirs forever  Lastly I appoint my wife Polly Ellis to be my Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament revoking all others heretofore by me made  In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventeenth day of March one thousand seven hundred and ninety six
