Library Online DatabasesMany library websites now have online databases which may include access to census images and an index to the images via the library version of Ancestry.com and/or a subscription to HeritageQuest. These databases are available to library card holders of the libraries. Access to the Ancestry.com database is limited to use while you are physically in the library while the HeritageQuest database is also available from your home or office. Contact your local reference librarian for more information. You can also purchase a subscription to Ancestry.com and have access to their database and index while at home. |
| Please help to make the Somerset County Census Records (including the Mortality Schedules) available through this or other websites by transcribing a portion of the census (see Somerset County Census Records and visit the Somerset County Town Sites and the Maine USGenWeb Archives Project site to see which census records are already available on-line). If you already have a page or pages from the census, you can transcribe those and send them to me (it doesn't matter if you only have one page of a section, every page helps). You will need to obtain copies of the pages you would like to transcribe. See NARA: Genealogy -- Census Records and Somerset County Census Records for information on how to get copies. If you have Word or a similar word processing program, I can provide you with a template to fill out to aid in the transcription. To volunteer, e-mail Abby Balderama at somersetmegenweb@pacbell.net. |
