Becky Blair Wed Apr 8 12:46 1998 NANCE, NELSON Searching for the final resting place of Martha NANCE, died Dec. 17, 1904. Her obit reads that the funeral occured from the Congregational Church, with the Rev. H. W. Mote, D.D. conducting the services. Pall bearers were four young men: John Clifford, John Connaughton, Al Fallon, and George Smith. Remains were interred at the Lakeview Cemetery. She was born Martha Nelson, in Kossuth Co. Iowa in 1882, married Charles Nance and moved away. I do have an obit for her from a newspaper called the "Phenix" that says she was buried in Lakeview Cemetery. It does not say what town or state, only that there is an aged Mother who lives in Iowa which leads me to believe she is not buried in Iowa. Her husband remarried 2 years later in S.D.. I have checked there already. No Lakeview Cemetery or newspaper by that name in 1904. I see Washington County has 2 Lakeview Cemeteries. Is it possible that she is buried there? Thank-you Becky Blair New Boston, TX Michael Donovan Sat Apr 25 11:35 1998 Query re DONOVAN, BARRETT In 1818 my ancestor, Cornelius (Conn) DONOVAN, emigrated from County Cork Ireland to the Miramichi region of New Brunswick, Canada in the company of: Thomas BARRETT, Thomas's wife Mary HALLAHAN and Thomas's sister Johanna BARRETT, who later married Cornelius. Thomas BARRETT's only child Patrick BARRETT moved to Stillwater (Washinton County) Minnesota in May 1868 with his wife Margaret HAYES. Patrick and Margaret (HAYES) BARRETTapparently appear in the 1870 and 1880 Stillwater censuses and had a large family in Minnesota. There are other families likely related to Cornelius DONOVAN with a connection to Stillwater (Washington County) Minnesota . Timothy DONOVANand his wife Ellen BARRETT emigrated from County Cork Ireland to the Miramichi region of New Brunswick Canada in 1824 accompanied by their sons Michael T DONOVAN(b.ca. 1815) and Jeremiah DONOVAN(b.ca.1819). Jeremiah DONOVANmarried Briget HAYES and moved with her and their children to Stillwater Minn. in October 1868. Jeremiah DONOVANoperated a boarding house in Stillwater in the 1870's and 1880's and died in Stillwater 27 Jul 1894. Michael DONOVAN and his wife Ellen BUTLER emigrated from County Cork Ireland to the Miramichi region of New Brunswick Canada in 1831. Their sons Michael (ca.1840-18 Dec, 1900) and Timothy (ca. 1844 - aft. 1895) moved to Stillwater in the 1880's and subsequently married there and had families. I would be interested to know if there are any descendents of these familes still living in Minnesota and if so whether any have traced their ancestors to an exact place of origin in Ireland. I am trying to locate the parish or townland that Cornelius came from so that I can research the Irish records. The 1851 New Brunswick census refers to a Jeremiah HALLAHANof Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland who immigrated in 1831 and was living in a nearby community to Mary (HALLAHAN) BARRETT. At that time New Brunswick was very sparsely populated and Irish immigrants tended to settle in communities made up of people who were related to them and had lived nearby in the old country. It is seems likely these families were all from somewhere near the Bandon area but any information that would confirm or deny this theory or pinpoint a smaller area would be very welcome.
