Misc. Postings
This page was created where misc. information and messages from researchers
can be posted. If you have found some genealogical information such as
documents, photos, etc in rummage sales, estate sales, used book stores or other
such places and would like to locate someone who might be connected to this
information, this is where you can post notices or the actual information. (I am
not able to post photos at this time, but hopefully, can do so in the near
future.)
The following is
the type of information that will be posted on this page.
| I was recently at an estate sale
and purchased for a nominal fee a small box from a funeral home in
Houston, Mississippi The box contains several things including an old
black edged hankie! Here are two funeral notices: 1. Mrs. Fannie Hall -- no date or family identification, but it lists active and honorary pall bearers. 2. Henry H. Harrington, son of Mr. & Mrs. W. A. Harrington. Lists pall bearers and honorary pall bearers. Houston, MS, Aug. 31, 1916 There are also some printed calling cards with these names: Miss Adele Griffin, Mrs. A. Oscar Alexander, Mrs. Cecil Dossett, Mrs. John R. (or H., can't really tell -- really fancy printing) Tabb. Also an "Acknowledgment of Order" dated Dec. 10, 1920 which says "bought by Miss Annie H. Hall, Houston, MS." for a brush for $6.50. The printed receipt is from Geo. T. Brodnax, Inc, Gold & Silversmith, Memphis, TN. There are also many hand written small cards (perhaps attached to flowers?) with the following names: Mrs. Marie Hall, Miss Minnie Hall, Mrs. S. M. Hall, W. B. Tabb, Mrs. S. Tabb, Judge Bates, Mrs. Rosa Tabb, Mrs. Cheatham, Mr. U Mrs Bates Tabb, Mrs. S. B. Tabb, Mrs. W. A. Harrington, Mrs. K. Gilfoy & mother, Mr. & Mrs. Ashton Toomer, Mr. & Mrs. L. B. Bays, Mr. & Mrs. roy wilson, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Tabb, Mr. Avery E. Tabb, Mr. & Mrs. A. M. Harley, Mr. & Mrs. J. M. Griffin, Mr. W. E. Scott's class, Mr. & Mrs. A. Toomer, Methodist S. School, Miss Ballard, Mrs. Wood, Miss Fellon, Miss Campbell. I would like to give these to a descendant of these people or else to someone in the area who is interested in preserving the history of that era. |
I will be happy to share this information if it will help anyone. Eloise Webb |
