I am looking for information on Joseph Hill BLANSET. He was my mother's dad. I have a copy of a 1900 census taken in Webster Co, MS. He is stated as 14 and that he was born in MS. It also states that he was enumerated into the family of James C. and Letha J. BLANSET. He also was m. to a lady in MS and had 2 children. One was Eddie May; the other I don't know his name, but I'm told he died in the services. He then moved to AL and married my granmother. The surname BLANSET doesn't show up so far in AL or MS. I am seeking information on my grandparents Charles Gradyn COOPER and Alzadie McQUIRE COOPER. They lived in Eupora, MS. He was a justice of the peace and they along with my mother Bennie COOPER JACKSON, b.  6/6/24, d. 7/11/78 and are buried in the Union Pentacostal Methodist Church outside Eupora. She had several brothers and sisters: Merle HAYNES, Josephine BOWEN, Jesse COOPER, James COOPER, Charles COOPER Jr., Jack COOPER, Macil COOPER, Harmon COOPER, Bonnie Jean McGARY, Billie Tidwell BOWEN. Dec. 15, 1880 in Webster, Choctaw or Chickasaw Co, MS married Effie Louis WELLS, b. Dec. 23, 1881 in TX.  There were two Thomas Jefferson COOPERs born 1853-54 in this area of MS and one of them is the son of W. R. COOPER and Hulda JENNINGS.  Does anyone know which one? T. J. COOPER #2 married Louise GABLE who is buried at Cadaretta, MS.

They were married 5 April 1874, probably in Weatherford, Parker Co.,TX. She died 19 Jan 1909 in TX. My grandfather, her son, George Gillian HARRIS was born in Bentley?, MS. Thank you.

Searching for parents of A. H. FERGUSON, b. Nov 4, 1835, m. abt 1860 Peninia STALLINGS, b. 1837. Children were: Martha, b. April 1867; Louis Preston, b. April 2, 1868; Louise Elizabeth, b. Dec. 25, 1869; Frank, b. Feb 27, 1870; Samuel Jackson, b. Feb 23, 1874 and John Edward, b. Jan. 24, 1877. Louise Elizabeth married Wylie N. HAMILTON in Webster Co on July 20, 1887. Would like to locate parents of Wylie HAMILTON, b. abt. 1864. He had a brother named Jim, a sister named Elizabeth and a half-brother named Alan who was supposedly the tallest man in the county at the time of his death. Louis and Wylie had a daughter named Bertha Ellen who married T. E. Ferguson (he had supposedly been adopted by A. H. and Peninia many years earlier). I am interested in sharing info with anyone regarding the ancestors and descendants of Elias and Sara SPENCER who moved to Webster Co in the mid-1830s. Their children were: Celia, Elander, John, Levi, Peter, Sara, William, Greenberry (my GGGrandfather), Elias, George W., Elizabeth L., Nancy, and Henry E. Greenberry's son was James Monroe SPENCER,  b. Feb 7, 1836 in AL, moved with his family to Webster Co to farm, joined the Confederate Army and d. of a wound suffered at the Battle of Lookout Mountain in 1863. James Monroe married Louisa C. GABLE, daughter of Joseph and Mary GABLE in 1859 and had one son named James Walter SPENCER.

William HAWKINS born Ky came to Webster Co about 1851 from Noxubee Co, MS. Wife's name is Elizabeth on 1860 census, wife's name is Margaret Amanda on 1870 census. He deeded land to his daughter-in-law in 1874, Ann M. HODGES HAWKINS. He is not on the 1880 census, but his wife and children are. When did he die and where is he buried? Son Joseph M. HAWKINS died in 1895 and is buried in Lollar's Grove cem. Webster Co. Another son Henry C. HAWKINS lived in the home of sister-in-law Ann M HODGES HAWKINS until 1920. Where is Henry C. HAWKINS buried?

Reuben Martin HITT, b. 24 May 1781 in Fauquier Co, VA, d. 1855 in Webster Co, MS and Martha HAMILTON, b. 23 Jan 1810 in SC?, d. abt 1834 in Laurens Co, SC, are said to be the parents of my ancestor Lazarus HITT. My data shows this to be impossible, as Lazarus HITT was b. 1792 in Laurens Co, SC, and d. 20 Oct 1859 in Calhoun Co, MS.  I understand there is a monument to Reuben Martin HITT at Embry Cemetery in Bellefontaine. Could someone tell me if his data is correct and if his children are listed on the monument? Thanks!

Looking for information on the HUSSEY family.  John D. HUSSEY was b. ca 1834 in AL and is located on 1880 Sumner County, MS District #1 Census (now Chickasaw) with wife, Eliza E. (Ann Elizabeth (BOWDEN) WALLIS, age 40 (b. GA and adopted by WALLIS family) and following children: Josephine, age 18; Nancy E, age 15; John H, age 11; Evander, age 9; Jasper, age 7; Savanna, age 4; Georgia, age 5 months.  According to births of children, they were in AL ca 1860 until ca 1873; moved to MS and over to AR where baby Savanna was b. and then back to MS where Georgia was b. in 1880.  Especially need information for Theodocia, their last child who was born ca 1882 after the census.  Theodocia married Lee Verner MIZE.  Where and when?  Theodocia and Lee had two daughters named Madge M. MIZE (1903-1983) and Nell Beatrice MIZE (1906-1965).  Docia d. ca 1909 probably New Albany, Pontotoc Co, MS.  She is possibly buried in Webster Co. Was it then Sumner County?  Does anyone know where her grave is? If anyone has ANY INFO, please contact me.

He died 10-26-1864 in Double Springs, at his home, of wounds received during the Civil War. He and Martha are both buried in Double Springs. They had three sons, all born in Double Springs 1. Alexander Mason JENNINGS, b. 2-28-1858, d. 10-11-1929, m.,1-4-1882 to Matilda Jane DENNEY, b. 3-24-1851, d. 11-10-1900; both are buried in Drew Cemetery, Sunflower Co. 2. THOMPSON family in Greensboro, Choctaw Co., MS, did he marry a THOMPSON?  It has been reported that Thomas J. They are not on the 1850 census for Choctaw/Webster Co. All indications are that they were there and were missed. William HAWKINS was in Noxubee Co. in 1850 but moved to Webster Co about 1851. I am told that Flora's husband left and no one ever saw him again. Looks as if this MARTIN connects to the MARTINs of Chickasaw and Calhoun Co, MS. In the 1880 census Thomas was living 6 houses from Marinda FONDREN MARTIN in Calhoun Co, MS. Anyone have any info?

Seek correspondence with any descendants of Hampton and Lucinda MAY. Hampton, b. circa 1801, TN; Lucinda b. 1811, also TN. This family seems to have resided somewhere between the communities of Alva and Lodi probably in the edge of present Webster Co (TWP 20 Range 8). They were the probable parents of the following children; David (1830 AL), Jefferson (1832 AL), Mary (1834), Martha (1835), Jermima E. (1838), Matilda (1840), Lucinda (1844), Pleasant (1847), Wade Hampton (1849) and Betty (1852). Especially interested in descendants of the daughter Jermima. Jermima is noted with the surname DUNN and child Matilda C. DUNN age 10 in the 1870 census.

I do not know where my gggrandmother, Marinda White Paden MOORE, is buried. She died in 1861. One time I was in MS, but did not pick a good day to go to the cemetery. I got stuck at Bellefontaine Cemetery and some nice men pulled us out. She should be in a cemetery somewhere around there. They were listed at Fame in the 1860 Choctaw Co Census. Any help would be appreciated.

James NICHOLS, b 1796 Scotland and Hulda LOTT, b. 1806 Ireland were married in 1825.  They had 5 sons and 2 daughters.  Their son Rufus Alexander NICHOLS was born Feb. 13, 1847 in Chickasaw Co, MS and died in Denton Co, TX in 1926.  He married  Barbara Ann MARSHALL Sept. 13, 1869, who was born June 5, 1847 in Chickasaw Co, MS and died in Bazette, Navarro Co, TX in 1922. She was the daughter of Will MARSHALL or J.  I.  MARSHALL  and Mary Elizabeth FORD.   Hulda Elizabeth NICHOLS, daughter of Rufus, married John Hayes WALKER Aug. 11, 1895 in Rhone, Navarro Co, TX, the son of George Washington WALKER and Sarah Elinore POUNDS of MS. According to census records the NICHOLS family lived in Monroe, Lowndes and Chickasaw counties in MS and Denton and Navarro counties in TX.

POE was born in 1818, and he lived in Walthall (Webster Co) during the late 1800s. I was wondering if there were any marriage records and birth records.  Jim T. POE's third marriage was to Laura America COCHRAN ROSE in the early 1870s.  This was her second marriage, so her maiden name was COCHRAN, and her previous married name was ROSE.  My grandfather, Leslie POE, was the last child of this marriage, around 1884. I would like to verify names and births of all the children of Jim T. POEs three marriages. I would also like to find out where Jim T. POE was born, names of siblings and parents.

I'm hoping you can help me find out about my great-great-grandfather William B SMITH. He was a physician. I'm looking for any info available, but especially his parents and siblings, place of birth etc. William B. SMITH was b. c 1802 in AL according to the 1870 census taken in MO. His wife Sarah LOWERY was b. in c1809 in MS. They married sometime between 1820-50. Their son Thomas M. SMITH was b. in Sumner (now Webster) Co. MS, according to family tradition, on 4 February 1850. Another son George was born in c1857. The family was living in MO in 1870.

We are searching for ancestors and decendents of Sherwood SMITH. We know he was born in NC about 1804 and moved to TN and then to MS. He is listed in the 1880 census of Webster Co. His first wife was Luvina. They had at least 4 children that we know of: Aaron, b.1824 N.C.,d. 1908 in Walthal, Ms., Alexander Charlie b. 1830 in Tn., d. 1912 Webster Co. Ms, m. Missouri Amanda GREENLEE Oct, 1857; Izabella, b. 1834; Asa, b.;1837. Sherwood remarried China DERRICK in 1869 in Rankin Co. Ms. China had a 5 year old son named Willie. Sherwood and China had 4 children: Melinda, b. 1870, d. before 1880 census; Bettie, b. 1871, d. 1936, m. Ed McCAIN; Dock, b. 1874; Amanda Jaine, b. 1872, d. 1955, m. Pearl Holoman GUNTER. We can't seem to find anything on Sherwood before he came to Ms. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for the parents of Francis C. SUTTON, b. ca 1867 in AL, buried in Montevesta cemetary, Webster Co, MS. He was married to Mollie (Millie) DALTON, b 1872 in Ms. She is also buried in Montevesta Cem. They had 6 known children: Mae, Audie Delma, b. 1897, d. 1/19/1984, she married George Mike PEACH. Other children were Rodgie Doyle buried in Montevesta, Jessie L., b. 1908, (living in Ackerman, Ms.), Omaree b. 2/20/1909, d. 1982 and Dovie, b. 2-7-1905, d. 1905, buried in Montevesta. Francis SUTTON's father was born in AL.

Samuel WALKER and his wife Martha FLEMING had my g-g-g-g- grandfather James Fleming WALKER, b. 1810 in Chester Co, SC. He married Sally COOPER in GA and their children were born in Chickasaw Co, and Webster Co. MS. Other children of Samuel and Martha WALKER were: Jonathan Hemphill, Walker b. 1809 in SC and married his cousin Rebecca;  George Washington, b. 1811 in GA married Amanda M. ? He was the Sherriff of Calhoun Co, MS for several years; Samuel Harvey,  b. 1816 GA and married Emma ?.  I have the desc. of James and Sally and would like to know more about their ancestors in Chester Co, SC .George Washington WALKER, son of James Fleming WALKER was born in AL in 1835.  He married Sarah Elinore POUNDS, b. 1839 who is buried in the Pleasant Grove cemetery in Chickesaw Co., MS.  Where is George buried? Did he go to Texas with his children?

Had 3 known children: Mary Louena, b. 2-23-1882 , d. 6-10-1947, m. Thomas J. FASON; William C., b. Mar. 1887; Thomas E., b. OCT 1891. I need the name of James and Julia's parents, all info would be appreciated.
