Use the Archives at Hampton University

- Your letter should include:
- Background - what you are currently working on
- What your ultimate goal is(writing a book, a newsletter, etc.)
- Make your request as specific as possible
- Closure - thank them in advance for the time and effort that they will expend on your request
- Their first response will be to send you a letter concerning your
request. It will include forms to be filled out and returned along with a copy of the rules and regulations governing the use of archival material.
The return form that you sign
specifies that you will abide by all of the rules and regulations
pertaining to:
- General Regulations
- Use of Materials
- Reproduction of Materials or Photographs
- Billing: Invoiced with material. Payment upon receipt of invoice.
Prepayment required for orders exceeding $5.00.
- Restrictive Access to Special Collections
- A warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions
- Fees

Paper copy of documents:

Negatives retained by HAMPTON UNIVERSITY
- If all correspondence is answered promptly by both parties, the
transaction takes approximately one month depending on the extent of the
query.
