I wonder if anyone knows what precisely was meant by a "bonanza farm
"in Barnes county in 1882 when Charles Dazey founded the town of Dazey,
used in The North Dakota Place Names by Wick. Curious since he left, must have
gone broke!

Frank HOWEY, his wife Rosa CRAWFORD HOWEY, and their children lived in Valley
City, Barnes County, ND around 1906. Frank was a traveling agent for Noyes Bros
& Cutler that I believe was a drug firm. Children of Frank and Rosa
(Walter, Miriam, Edwin, Zella) would have attended school in Valley City. Can
anyone help me find records of my ancestors' living in Valley City? Census
records? School records? Any help most gratefully appreciated!

I am looking for the Joseph/Josiah Chandlier Chamberlin/Chamberlain family. I
am told that they moved to North Dakota after 1880 (in 1880 they are found in
Isanti County, MN Census) I have other Chamberlin's who moved to Barnes County,
ND and had kids there, so that is why I thought I would try Barnes County
first. Joseph/Josiah sometimes went by the name Chandlier or Chan. His wife's
name was Permelia and her maiden name was Bridges. They had nine kids and they
are William H., Mary Etta, Alonzo, George, Moses, Emmons K., Arther, Daniel,
and Elizabeth. Moses may have married in ND to a Clara E. Hall in 1889 and
shortly after moved back to MN and had their one and only child. Elizabeth
married a man with the last name Anderson. If you can help me out at all with
this family, PLEASE let me know. nkj@spacestar.net

Looking for information on Jonnela
and Henrik Larson of Barnes County, ND. Their nephew Harold Dass came from
Norway in 1909 to work for them. He married Ellen Kristine Olson in Valley
City, ND, on Dec. 5, 1914. They had a son Andor, born Sept. 2, 1915, and
returned to Norway sometime in 1916. Elsa Breivik of Tjongsfiorden,Norway is
the daughter of Andor, granddaughter of Harold. She is seeking the marriage certificate
and birth certificate of her ancestors. A relative in MN checked Vital Stats in
Bismarck, and said there were no records there. They asked me to help and I am
asking someone in Barnes County to help. Is there anyone familiar with these
Larsons? They were the aunt and uncle of Harold Dass, and perhaps there is some
family member who could offer some information from bible records or give the
name of the church they attended. I live in North Carolina, so cannot check out
local records personally. Appreciate any help, Shirley Olson Apex, NC
