IVER INGEBRIGTSON

Iver's surname is spelled in various ways in the available resources. He was born on 11 June 1845 in Norway. His mother, Carrie, was living with him in Iowa but no other record could be found for her.
Iver immigrated to America in 1860. At the time he enlisted for the Civil War in 1864 he was living in Otsego, Columbia County, Wisconsin. He enlisted on 19 August 1864 and mustered out at the end of the war on 26 July 1865 having served in Company E, 38th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment. For his service he started receiving a pension on 8 October 1889 while living in Iowa. His wife started receiving a widow's pension on 26 April 1923 while living in North Dakota.
On 16 March 1868 Iver married Tarand Gunvaldatter in Ridgeway, Winneshiek County, Iowa. Tarand immigrated to America in 1845. Their children included: Ingeborg Olette, Elsie, Gunval, Isabel (1874), Ingebert (1876), John (1878), and Nels. The family left Iowa for Minnesota and then returned to Iowa by 1880 and by 1910 were settled in Sections 3 and 4 of Township 141, Range 93.
