First Gayton School Relocated-Farm Storage Bottom-Original Site	Interior - First School	Restored Used As A Community Meeting Place
The six photos above were taken by Theodora Cole. The original school was abandoned then removed from original site and salvaged by Calvin and Margaret Walkenson. The Gayton School District was established 19 April 1884 and enumerated 1 June 1884 but it is unknown if the original building above was in existance then. The white school building, built later, was restored, and now is being used as a community meeting place. (Click on Picture for Larger View) This photo was contributed by Sharon Cremer.
