1844/1845 - Book titled: "History of Polk County, Iowa Containing A History of the County, its Cities, Towns, etc; published by Des Moines Union Historical Company, Birdsall, Williams, 1880". Written about, Henry Birge (Burge), father of Benjamin, which told: "Henry Birge (Burge) father of son's: (Andrew) Jackson, Gideon L. Birge and BENJAMIN F. BIRGE (Burge), the eldest son of Henry Birge now resides in Des Moines. He is a cooper by trade, a religious and worthy man."

1846 Census, Polk County,Iowa - Benjamin F. is living with his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Burge, with brother Christopher, Gideon L. and Andrew J. and sister's, Mary, Harriet Ann, Charlotte M. (daughter named: Martha Jane AKA Calamity Jane of Deadwood, South Dakota) and Elizabeth.

1850 Census, Polk county, Iowa - Benjamin F. living with parents, Henry and Elizabeth Burge with brother's, Gideon L. and Andrew J. and sister's, Harriet Ann and Charlotte M. and Elizabeth.

1852 Census, Beaver Township, Polk County, Iowa - Taken in August/September 1852. Benjamin F. living with parents, Henry and Elizabeth Burge, with brother's Gideon L. and Andrew J. and sister's, Harriet Ann, Charlotte M and Elizabeth and a baby girl, Martha Jane, whot might not have been counted. She was born: 1 May 1852 in Beaver Township, Iowa. Harriet was possibly gone from home at this time. If so, then Martha Jane was counted.

1853 Delaware Township, Polk County, Iowa - Benjamin's mother, Elizabeth, had passed away. As it is said. Have no evidence.

7 December 1854, Delaware Township, Polk County, Iowa - Benjamin's father, Henry Burge married Mary Lowe.

14 October 1855, Elkhart Township, Polk County, Iowa - Benjamin F. married Emaline Lowe. Her mother was Mary Lowe, married to Henry Burge, father of Benjamin F.

8 June 1856, Delaware Township, Polk County, Iowa - Death of Benjamin's father Henry Burge.

1856 Census, Franklin Township, Polk County, Iowa - Mary Barge (Burge) -52- 1804, Mother-in-law (widowed by Henry Burge, father to Benjamin); Benjamin F. -23- 1833, Emiline (Emaline) -15- 1841. (Mary Burge is mother to Emaline).

23 May 1858 Delaware Township, Polk County, Iowa - Son born to Benjamin F., Francis Marion Burge.

3 September 1860, Delaware Township, Polk County, Iowa - Death of Emaline (Lowe) Burge. Buried: Byers Cemetery, Elkhart Township, Polk County, Iowa. She was 19 years--8 months--24 days.

18 December 1861 - Benjamin married to Roena C Brown, Delaware Township Polk County, Iowa.

26 June 1864, Franklin Township, Polk County, Iowa - A son was born, Orlando E Burge.

1883 - Benjamin's son, Orlando E Burge, went to North Dakota, to make his new home there.

1885 - Orlando E. (now known as Orlyn or Orlie) went back to Iowa, coming back later with his parents and brothers, George and Marion, to establish homes on Beaver Creek.

28 September 1905 - Roena C (Brown) Burge died Thursday morning at 5 AM, at her home in the lower Beaver Valley. She was born 18 January 1840, Petersburg, PA.

1 March 1907 - Benjamin was married a third time to Margaret Longnecker that evening, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She came from Iowa to South Dakota, to marry Benjamin F. Burge.

22 May 1908 - In the sisters hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota, Benjamin F. Burge died on Saturday at 10 AM. He was buried at Linton Township, Emmons County, North Dakota at Beaver Valley Cemetery. His death was caused by old age, coupled with a tumorous growth in his stomach.
