LaMoure County Mailing List
(NDLAMOUR-L@rootsweb.com)

1. Purpose.
The NDLAMOUR list is for discussion of the history of LaMoure County, North Dakota, and the genealogy of LaMoure County families.

2. How to subscribe.

NDLAMOUR-L is for individual messages to be delivered to your e-mail address. As each subscriber to the list sends messages to the list address, you will receive a copy of the message.

To subscribe send an e-mail message to: NDLAMOUR-L-request@rootsweb.com with one word in the body of the message: subscribe
There should be no additional text.

NDLAMOUR-D is for a digest of several accumulated messages to be delivered to your email address. As each subscriber to the list sends messages to the list address, they are put into a digest to be delivered later. The digest is generated approximately once a day and delivered to digest subscribers. This option is handy for people who don't want multiple messages to accumulate in their mail box.

To subscribe send an email message to: NDLAMOUR-D-request@rootsweb.com with one word in the body of the message: subscribe
There should be no additional text.

3. How to unsubscribe.

From mail mode:

Send a message to NDLAMOUR-L-request@rootsweb.com that contains one word in the body of the message: unsubscribe
There should be no additional text.

From digest mode:

Send a message to NDLAMOUR-D-request@rootsweb.com that contains one word in the body of the message: unsubscribe
There should be no additional text.

4. How to change mode from mail to digest.
There are two steps.
First, send the command unsubscribe to NDLAMOUR-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode.
Second, send the command subscribe to NDLAMOUR-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests.
To change from digest to mail mode, use the same procedure, however reverse the email addresses: unsubscribe to NDLAMOUR-D and subscribe to NDLAMOUR-L.

5. How to change to NOMAIL mode.
There is no formal NOMAIL mode.
All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again.

6. Posting.
Send your message to NDLAMOUR-L@rootsweb.com. It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both.

7. Message format and attachments.
Please submit messages only in plain text, and don't submit attachments. Many of our subscribers are using software that cannot read attachments. Please, always use a helpful subject line like "John DOE d. 1800 in LaMoure Co ND", rather than a generic one like "inquiry about my family line."

8. Advertising.
Technically, RootsWeb has a "no commercial use" policy. Like all RootsWeb policies, though, the last thing that we want is for policy to get in the way of our doing genealogy. Therefore, the NDLAMOUR list will accept brief announcements of books and other resource material for sale that is specifically related to this county. Don't include prices and ordering info; just include a pointer to a URL, a commercial mailing list, or an e-mail address where the complete ordering information can be found.
In case of doubt, send the message to me at NDLAMOUR-admin@rootsweb.com, and I'll review it and forward it to the list if appropriate.

9. Copyrights.
Any person sending a message to this list retains the copyright to it. By sending the message, you grant to the list admin, and to her heirs and assigns forever, permission to distribute copies of the message to other list members, to store archival copies of the message, and to make the archival copies available to the Internet community at large. You also grant to other list members the right to quote your message in part or in total as a part of their replies sent back to the list.

10. Archives.
Rootsweb has SEARCHABLE Mailing List Archives. Go to: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl and type in NDLAMOUR

11. No-nos.
Please do not submit virus alerts, chain letters, or other off-topic material to the list. Don't send copies of copyrighted material. Vulgarity and personal attacks on other list members are also unwelcome. Don't send messages exceeding 8 kilobytes in length.
If someone else violates these rules, please do not send their message back to this list. That just magnifies the problem, and defeats our anti-spam defenses at Rootsweb.
