EDMUND HACKETT, SR.
Throughout research, records are showing Edmund, Edmond, E., Hackett, Hacket, there is also one or two which have his first name as Edward.
Edmund was born on 21 November 1832 in Bombay, Franklin County, New York to Edmond and Mary Hackett. There were three known siblings; Elizabeth (1836), William (1838), and John (1840).
Edmund first married Bridget Ward daughter of Jane [unsure of translation] and Catherine Ward. There are four known children from that marriage [Note: Bridget's obituary (1883) indicates five children, four surviving]; Edmund, Jr. (27 August 1856-11 November 1904), Mary (23 March 1856), John (25 June 1860), and Katherine/Emma (1866 Illinois). He later married Leah Hortense Youngs, born ~1857 in New York) on 14 December 1883. There was one unknown named child from that marriage born in 1884.
Edmund enlisted into the Civil War in New Hampshire on 10 July 1861, from the residence of Manchester, Hillsborough County, as a Wagoner in Company C 3rd New Hampshire Regiment Infantry. He was then promoted to 2nd Lietuenant on 5 September 1862 into the 10th New Hampshire Regiment Infantry.
Edmund had a extensive and various life including being the first mayor of Bismarck and an inventor. In McHenry County he built a saw mill at which a community grew named Souris City, later changed to Hackett Falls. He established another townsite as Villard.
Edmund was on a trip when he died of a heart attack and was found on the side of a road in Flathead County, Montana on 7 October 1905.

DAVID HENRY HAMILTON
David was born in Hemlock, Howard County, Indiana to James and Anna Hamilton on 18 November 1868.
David married Miranda Catherine Sanford on 1 October 1891 in Fairfield, Franklin County, indiana. She was born on 25 June 1868 in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Kentucky. Children from this marriage included: Virgil, Marie, Cleo V. (1902- ), and Blanche.
In 1906 the Hamilton family received a land patent in Section 20 of Pratt Township. Miranda died there on 18 February 1915 and is buried in the family plot in Bottineau County.
David had an extensive and varied career including service with with Roosevelt's Rough Riders in Cuba in the 1st United States Cavalry and as a State Senator from McHenry County.
On 23 June 1926 David married Bertine Johanna Guttormsen Skagen. Bertine died in California on 4 December 1968.
David died on 25 November 1945 in Mandan, Morton County. Obituary from Mouse River Farmers Press of 6 December 1945. He is buried in the Bottineau County family plot.
JOHN GEORGE HOFMANN
ABNER LEWIS HANSCOM
Abner was born on 1 January 1848 to Zebulon and Sarah Burroughs Hanscom. He had at least these siblings: Daniel (1850), George (1852), Eliza (1854), John (1857), Mary (1859), Julia (1861), and Geneva (1867).
Civil War records for Abner have his surname spelled as Hanscomb. He served as a Private in Company A, Maine 1st Sharp Shooter Battalion enlisting on 27 Oct 1864. He mustered out on 21 June 1865 and then transferred to Company A, Maine 20th Infantry Regiment. He mustered out at the end of the war on 16 July 1865.
Shortly after the war, many of the Hanscom family, Abner included, moved west to Michigan where he met and married Alice Tisdel in 1873 at Cedar Rapids. They had one daughter, Mary, born 14 March 1876. In early 1880's they moved into Dakota Territory in several locations. In McHenry County they lived in Section 33 of Newport Township having a land patent there on 27 December 1898.
