HENRY HOWARD ORTH

Henry was born in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania on 16 January 1831 and Mary Clarke was born on 14 July 1831 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. They had four sons and three daughters: Joseph Henry, Addison (1858-1929), Rosa Ann, Edward Calvin, Nettie (1866-1953), Grant, and Amelia.
Henry was a Civil War Veteran having served as a Private in Company C, 173rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment from 3 October 1862 through 17 August 1863. Family history says he was hired twice to serve for other people but this is the only information this writer could find. He started receiving his pension on 22 July 1886.
As a family Henry and Mary lived in Pennsylvania, Illinois and Missouri before joining their son Edward in McHenry County who was living in Villard Township in 1902. On 1 December 1904 Henry has a land patent in Section 1 of Falsen Township. On 30 December 1904 their son Joseph has a land patent on Section 12 in Hendrickson Township and then on 5 April 1905 Edward has a land patent in Falsen Township on Section 2. Henry also was a Blacksmith and had his shop on his homestead. By 1910, Henry and Mary, and some of the family, moved to Colorado where Henry and Mary died.
