CHARLES W. ROBINSON

Charles was born in Wilson, Ellsworth County, Kansas on 6 September 1877. Charles' unknown parents died when Charles and his sister Annia were infants. They grew up in Britt, Hancock County, Iowa under the care of their grandparents John Terry and Welthy Griswold Robinson.
Charles enlisted into the Army for the Spanish-American War as a Private in Company L, 52nd Iowa Volunteer Infantry. His enlistment and release dates are unknown.
On 31 October 1902 Charles is married to Elizabeth (Bessie) Boutiller who also settled here with her family from Britt. In 1904 they homesteaded in Section 11 of Norwich Township and in 1910 they are in Granville after which they are in Montana until after 1930 when they returned to Granville.

JOHN CUTLER ROBINSON

John was born in North Adams, Berkshire County, Massachusetts on 4 October 1839 to Thomas and Catherine MaCloud Robinson.
John had a distinguished career in the Civil War. He enlisted in Company B, Massachusetts 10th Infantry Regiment on 21 June 1861. He was promoted to Full 1st Lieutenant on 27 August 1862 and then mustered out on 24 September 1862 and a few days later on 27 September he was commissioned an officer in Company C, Massachusetts 37th Infantry Regiment. He was promoted to Full Captain on 24 December 1863, then promoted to Brevet Major on 2 April 1865. He was mustered out on 15 May 1865.
John was in Dakota Territory by 1885 and on 21 November 1888 he became one of the earliest settlers in McHenry County with his land patent in Section 18 of Lebanon Township. This writer could not find a record of his leaving the area and could not find a record of his having a family.
After McHenry County he became a resident, with his brother William Dennison, at Kooskia, Idaho County, Idaho where he died on 2 August 1925.

LEWIS "YANKEE" ROBINSON


HENRY CHARLES RODER

Henry was born to Charles and Minnie Roder on 20 March 1890 in Kingsley, Plymouth County, Iowa. Henry's siblings included: Carrie, Edith (1892), Lizzie, William, Edward [Note: Excerpt from County History on Ed and Marie Wiersch Roder Family], Esther, Herman, Emil, Walter, Albert, and Elsie (1911-1997). Between 1900 and 1910 the family was settled in Section 36 of Anamoose Township.
Henry was inducted into the U. S. Army on 24 July 1918 and sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa; served in Company No. 57, 15th Battalion, 163rd Depot Brigade, to 23 August 1923; Company No. 36, Labor Regiment, Camp Joseph E. Johnston, Fla., to 21 September 1918; 10th Detachment, Administration Labor Company, to death; overseas from 7 October 1918, to death. Died of pneumonia on 14 October 1918; remains returned to U. S. and buried at Sunrise Cemetery at Anamoose where many of his family are buried.
