PHILANDER EMERY VANNATTA
 Philander was born on 2 March 1917 in Anamoose to Phineas and Caroline Vannatta. His siblings included Elmer, Margaret, Jennie, Henry, Walter, Earl, Beatrice, and Arlo.
Philander was living in McHenry County and working on a farm when he enlisted on 7 December 1944 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He died at the U. S. Army Fort Knox Regional Hospital in Hardin County, Kentucky after being in the hospital five days on 18 January 1945 of several issues. The only information this writer could find is that he was a Private and experienced a critical situation which result in his death of a non-battle casualty.
