I'm trying to find the location of a family photo that was just passed
down to us, and may have been taken in the Hankinson, ND area.
My husband's great-great-grandfather, Henry Hoffmann, was a homesteader
and farmer in Box Butte Co., Nebraska in the 1880s and 1890s. He did
own a blacksmith shop there, and the attached photo may be of his shop
there. However, Henry's oldest son, Henry Carl Hoffman, also was a
blacksmith, and owned a shop in Hankinson, ND in the early 1900s. This
could be another possibility for the photo. I don't think any of
Henry's children ever spelled the last name with 2 n's, but dropped the
second n, so I really do think this is probably the elder Henry's shop,
but would like to be certain.
Could you look through your Richland Co. photos to see if this looks at
all familiar? I did notice that a smaller sign on the door says
"Schmitt-Howe Grain Co.", if that might help.
Thanks so much for any help you can give me with this!

I'm looking for info on my paternal grandmother's family. Her maiden name
at marriage was Anne Rustvang and I have reason to believe she was Andrew
R. Rustvang's step daughter. She was born 23 March 1873 in Tysnet,
Norway. My information shows her natural father's name as Lars
Kristoffersen and her mother's name was Ingeborg Christofferdatter. Farm
names in Norway are Dalsmoe for Lars and Tveraaen for Ingeborg. Ingeborg
married Andrew Rustvang abt. 1882 and they had 6 children (Carl, Inga,
Gina, Ragna, Richard and Alvin), the last being born abt 1894. Anne
married Ingvald Reine in June 1893 and they moved to Norquay,
Saskatchewan in 1906.
Does anyone have any information on Ingeborg or her first husband Lars? I
do not know if they lived in the Abercrombie area or what became of Lars.
I also do not know what surname he would have used in America. I do know
that Anne had ongoing contact with her family (the Rustvangs) after
moving to Saskatchewan.
Also any information on Ingeborg including when she died and where she
may be buried.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
