Frank was the son of Moses (1858-1929) and Tasinawastewin (Pretty Rope) (1859) Young Bear. Besides Frank they had, at least, these children: Josephine (1896), Louise/Louisa (1898), and Moses (1904-1922).
On 19 October 1920 in Sioux County, Frank married Margaret Rattling Cloud. They had, at least, these children: Franklin/Frank Jr. (1921-1973), Kingman (1923), Calvin (1926), Colleen/Estelle (1930), Marlene (1934), Willis (1936), and Comilla (1939).
From the Roster of the Men and Women Who Served in the Army or Naval Service: "YOUNG BEAR, FRANK. Army number 2,703,601; registrant, Sioux county; born, Cannon Ball, N. Dak., Dec. 14, 1892, of American parents; occupation, farmer; inducted at Fort Yates on June 23, 1918; sent to Camp
Dodge, Iowa; served in Company M, 349th Infantry, to discharge. Grade: Corporal, Dec. 5, 1918; overseas from Aug. 9, 1918, to May 30, 1919. Engagement: Defensive Sector: Center (Alsace). Discharged at Camp Dodge, Iowa, on June 11, 1919, as a Corporal." In 2008 the government recognized the service of the World War Code Talkers of which Frank was one of them.
Frank died in Sioux County on 30 November 1966. Burial.
