TWO HORSES FAMILY


Children of Benchit (Benedict, Ben, Leo) and Schelastica Two Horses included Placida (born October 1886), Price (born 1887), Edward (born 1893), Mary (Hilda) (born 1894), John (born July 1896) and Benedict (Ben) (born June 1898).


EDWARD TWO HORSES
Some records of Edward have his name as Francis (Frank) Edward. His birth varies in records between July and August and his birth year varies in records from 1893 to 1899. The official record for his veteran tombstone is 16 August 1893. He was born in Cannon Ball, Sioux County, North Dakota.
From the Roster of the Men and Women Who Served in the Army or Naval Service: "TWO HORSES, EDWARD. Army number 2,858,764; registrant. Sioux county; born, Cannon Ball, N. Dak., July 15, 1896, of American parents; occupation, rancher; inducted at Fort Yates on April 30, 1918: sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa; served in Company F, 350th Infantry, to May 16, 1918; Company K, 358th Infantry, to discharge; overseas from June 20, 1918, to March 22, 1919; wounded, gassed, Sept. 29, 1918. Engagements: Offensive: St. Mihiel. Defensive Sectors: Villers-en-Hayeand Puvenelle (Lorraine). Discharged at Camp Dodge, Iowa, on April 15, 1919, as a Private."
In 2008 the government recognized the service of the World War Code Talkers of which Edward was one of them.
Edward and Louisa (Grandma Oranges) Mentz (1900-1949) had daughter Mary who married Moses Brave (see image below). Louisa was the daughter of Thomas and Mamie His Holy Horse Mentz. Louisa on 4 February 1921 married in Fort Yates Barney (Barnabus) Red Tomahawk.
On 8 April 1920 in Cannon Ball, Sioux County, Edward married Alice Big Head, daughter of George Big Head, who was born 16 June 1899 and died 23 August 1957 in Sioux County. Their children include:

Grace. Maybe married three times. The first marriage may have been to an Unknown King, or King was her middle name. Her second marriage was to Unknown Shelltrack. Her third marriage was to Marvin Gobert on 16 October 1958 in Superior, Mineral County, Montana.

Laverne
Edward died on 26 March 1966 in Hennipen County, Minnesota and is buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Hennipen County.
