RUTH D. SCHMEICHEL WINGERTER

Ruth D. Wingerter, 93, Bismarck, died March 10, 2010. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 15, at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, with the Reverend Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. CDT at St. Philomena Cemetery, Selfridge.
Ruth was born January 18, 1917 in McLaughlin, South Dakota the daughter of Fred and Emily (Hindermuth) Schmeichel. She was raised and attended high school in McLaughlin. After high school, she attended Christy's Beauty School and later worked for Slaters Store, and eventually as a postmaster in Selfridge, Sioux County, North Dakota. She married Peter Wingerter on September 7, 1941, at Selfridge. Ruth and Peter raised their family and lived in Selfridge until 1994, when Peter passed away and Ruth moved to Bismarck.
She was a member of various societies and boards throughout her life. Ruth loved to travel, visiting many countries. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, quilting and gardening.
Ruth is survived by one son, two daughters, three brothers, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

AGATHA SHOOTER GAYTON

From Sioux County Pioneer, 11 February 1916
"Mrs. James Gayton, nee Agatha Shooter, who died at her home near Selfridge, February 1, mention of which was made last week, was born January 1, 1890, on the Standing Rock reservation. She was educated at the Martin Kenel school, and married three years ago. She leaves two daughters, Dora and Gladys."

There is more information on the James Gayton Family. Note: One of the links on the family page indicates Dora from the marriage but Agatha did have Gladys born just before her death on 18 January 1916. She died on 12 April 1916. In 1941, Dora married George Ray in Washington and died in Tacoma on 18 May 1945.
