Octavius was born in 1835 in either England or Quebec and died 4 August 1908 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. In the 1890 Veterans Federal Census he is living in Portland. Octavius enlisted 1 February 1864 into Company B, Ohio 67th Infantry Regiment. He mustered out on 31 May 1865 at Camp Lee, Richmond, Virginia. He started receiving his pension on 5 May 1880 and his wife Adeline started receiving a widow's pension on 20 August 1908 in Ohio. He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. His given name is sometimes spelled Erick. Erik was born 11 January 1831 in Norway. The history of the Portand area indicates he was a Civil War deserter and behind his name is "(Gamle Erick");" however, he is listed on the 1890 Veterans Schedule and is living in the Portland area then. No records could be found as to the unit he served in. In 1880 he is a widow in District 68 of the county and in 1900 he is in Roseville Township. Erik died on 29 October 1903 and is buried in Aurdal Cemetery. Although his headstone is engraved Ulirck, for his given name, his Civil War records used Ulrah and also he is referenced as Ulrick. Ulirck was born in Germany on 9 July 1824 and died on 12 February 1911. He enlisted on 29 August 1862 at Niagara, Niagara County, New York and mustered with Company B, New York 151st Infantry Regiment on 22 October 1862. He was mustered out on 26 June 1865 at Washington, D.C. He started receiving his pension 20 August 1883. Ulirck recorded 160 acres of land in Morgan Township, Section 34 in 1883. He is buried in Calvery Cemetery in Reynolds. |
