Mrs. W. S. Dean
Mrs. W.S. Dean, prominent pioneer of the Holmes area, died Saturday morning at the Chicago home of her daughter, Mrs. E.K. Munson. She was 79 years old.
Born in Woodhall, Ill. September 8, 1866, Mrs. Dean came here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Wyman in 1881, settling in Union township. In 1885 she married W.S. Dean and they made their home near Hatton, N.D., where she lived until moving to live with her daughter several years ago.
Both her husband and father were elected to the state legislature, each serving several terms. W.S. Dean who died in 1917, served his first legislative term in 1907.
She is survived by two daughters in addition to Mrs. Munson, Mrs. E. M. Kent, of Hatton and Mrs. Virgil Schwartz of Minneapolis; and three sons, Royce and Floyd of Hatton and Claude of Cleveland, Ohio.
Surviving grandchildren include Mrs. Ray Brenna and Mrs. Robert Grina, Grand Forks; William, Doris, Jeannette and John Dean, Hatton; Jack Dean, Miami, Fla.; and Virginia Schwartz, Minneapolis, Minn. One great-grandchild, Carolyn E. Grina, Grand Forks also survives.
Funeral arrangements were not announced.
