HAUGEN ANDERS AND ELLA ASTRID ELLEFSON
From Volume 1 of Traill County History

Anders Haugen was born October 7, 1846, in Eggedal, Norway. He came with his parents to America in 1870, came first to Silver lake, Iowa. Later he filed on a homestead near Brookings, South Dakota. He married Ella Astrid Ellefson of Rushford, Minnesota, Oct 27, 1876. Her birthday was March 12, 1857. They lived on the homestead 5 years. In 1881, they along with their 2 children Clara and Edward A. left by covered wagon for Traill County, where they took over his parents’ homestead near Portland, Mrs. Haugen died July 16, 1892. In October 1892, he sold out and along with his family joined a colony of 33 others for Oregon. He bought a farm 3 miles from Silverton, where they lived 3 years he sold out and moved his family back to North Dakota, where he again bought one of the "quarters" he had previously owned.

Their children were Thorvald, Alfred, Oscar A, Gerhard A., Emma, Mabel, Clara and Edward.

ALFRED AND GINA ELLEFSON
From Volume 2 of Traill County History

Alfred Ellefson and his wife Gina came to Traill County in the spring of 1922. They rented until they bought a house in 1944.Alfred a veteran of World War 1, served his country in Europe from Feb 22, 1918 until July 1919.

He worked and managed farms for the Brunsdale Brothers, Norman and Carl, until his death in June 1960. These farms were located in Lindass Township.

The Ellefson’s have five children, Arthur, Lloyd, Wandla, Mavis and Alfred.

Arthur Gerald was born Feb 22 1921 in Mayville. He graduated from Mayville High School and attended Mayville State College until inducted into the service of WW II. He married Joyce Dammen July 21, 1943. They have three children. Linda, Jay and Jan of LaHabra, California.

Lloyd George was born Oct 19, 1922. He joined the National Gauard at Hillsboro in 1941, and took part in heavy fighting in Gaudalcanal in the South Pacific. He now lives in Bloomington, Minnesota and has six children: Steve, Dan, Emily, Mark, Jack and Jenny. Lloyd attended Mayville High School and Wahpeton School of Science after the WW II.

Wandla Imogene was born in Mayville Nov 6, 1925. She graduated from Mayville High School and took training in Minneapolis. She worked at the Airport in Chicago, IL during the war. She married Robert Hawthorn Dec 27, 1946. They had two boys, John and Jim. Robert died in July 1962. Wandla was remarried in Oct 1965 to Harry Bechay and lives in Lancaster PA.

Mavis Jane was born Oct 11, 1927 in Mayville. She graduated from Hight School and Mayville State College. She married John Breneman October 5, 1952. They have three daughters: Jane and Joan twins, and Catherine. She lives in Lancaster, PA.

Alfred Gordon was born Oct 24,m 1930. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Stationed at Garmich, Germany. He is a graduate of Mayville High School and Mayville State College, is single and lives in St. Louis Park, MN.

ALFRED ELLEFSON
From Hatton 1894 Centennial

Alfred was born 1895 at Grafton, ND. His occupation is farming. His parents were Gunder and Oline Ellefson of Grafton. His wife was Cena Severson, born in 1889 in Steele County. She was a teacher and homemaker. Her parents were Lewis and Ingeborg Severson of Enger Township.

Their children are: Arthur of La Habra, Ca. and he works for Kodak Co. Lloyd of Minneapolis, MN is an Administrator of a retirement home. Wanda lives in Lancaster, Pa. And is homemaker. Mavis is also in Lancaster, PA. And is a homemaker. Alfred is in St. Louis Park, MN and has a gift shop.
