(Mort.) 9/30 Dakota 43 Griggs Cooperstown [Griggs County, North Dakota] 6 May 1898 Tom Trulson, 41 Tom Trulson passed over the silent river Wednesday morning after an illness of a little over a week. He died, we understand, from gastric ulcer of the stomach. The deceased was one of the oldest settlers of the county coming here in the early eighties. He had a farm four miles southeast of town. He was 41 years old. Doctors Kerr and Brimi held a post-mortem over the remains yesterday afternoon. The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon and the remains were interred in what is known as the Westley Cemetery south of town. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Trulson had a child that died December 17, 1886 of Diphtheria. Mrs. Tom [Elizabeth] Trulson died July 22, 1887 of T.B. Groom aka Thom Troulsen, Trules Troulson [and various spelling]. Bride's name is misspelled in the Marriage Index. She Eliza Kjorlien. This young family also lived on a farm south of Cooperstown, Griggs County. Sad history, daughter Ottis Rize Annie Trulsen, b. abt 1882, d. 17 December 1886 of Diptheria. Mother, Eliza b. 1861 Wisconsin, died 8 July 1887 of TB. Thom b. 1855 Wisconsin, d. 6 May 1898 of "Gastric Ulcer of the Stomach", leaving one child, 12 year old Harvey an orphan. Tom's elderly mother was appointed his guardian. There appears to be another child, Ida T., who d. 30 September 1885. There may have been other family members who remained in Traill County, that I have not positively identified. Hermond Trulson was probably there when Tom and Eliza married. Also Tom had 2 sisters [Emiline/Emily/Emelie and Mary] who married 2 Knudtson [Knudson] brothers and were in North Dakota at the time.
