Dutch Valley Farm Cemetery
AKA Peet Cemetery
Edmeston, Otsego County, NY

This small “family” plot is well hidden among some trees at the east edge of a field across from the house at 1107 State Route 80, about 2.8 miles south of Edmeston’s four corners. It is between Dinky Joe Road on the north and the state route mileage marker 104.8 to the south. The land was originally owned by William Cooper (of Cooperstown fame) who sold it to the Ten Broeck family in the late 18th century. There are presently only six stones standing, some having been recently and obviously returned to their upright position! Each stone had some sort of design carved into a circular top. In addition, some other stones have been uncovered from the underbrush. These appear to be original slate gravestones which have long since been broken and worn down; this is obvious because one of the pieces uncovered had the initials S A carved into it.

In Memory of

Jacob Ten Broeck Esqr.

who died Sept. 19, 1813

in the 71st year of his life.

His flesh shall slumber in the ground

Till the last trumpets joyful sound

Then burst the chains with sweet surprise

And in the Savior’s image rise
