November 11, 1998 marked the 220th year since the tragic events that took Cherry Valley (then a part of
Tryon County) by surprise. Walter Butler, Joseph Brant, 500 Iroquois, and 200 Rangers raided Cherry Valley.
Thirty-two civillians, including women and children, are killed. Sixteen soldiers, along with their commander
