At the Annual Town Meeting of the Inhabitants of the town of Otsego, held at the
Court-House in the village of Cooperstown on Tuesday the 4th day of March 1840 -

On Motion
Resolved That the town choose three Assessors - four Constables -
Resolved That the height of fences by 4 1/2 feet
Resolved That Cattle, Sheep, Hogs, & horses shall be under the same restrictions
as last year -
Resolved That rams be under the same restrictions as last year - that is they shall
not run at large from the 1st Aug. to the 15th Nov. under a penalty of $5
Resolved That school Commissioners be allowed the same as last year - that is 10
[shillings] pr day
Resolved That the Collector be allowed five pr-cent for collecting the taxes the
ensuing year.
Resolved That each School Inspector be allowed fifty cents for each teacher Inspected -
provided that when more than two persons are inspected in one day that then the
Inspectors shall be allowed 10 {shillings} per day each.
Resolved further that the School Inspectors be authorized & required to visit each
school in town once during the summer & twice during the winter season - the visits in
the winter shall be at the commencement & near the close of each School and that they be
required to Report the conditions of the schools at the next annual town Meeting.

March 12, 1840 ) We Certify that on the 12th day of March 1840 on
previous notice of six days the parties concerned Abraham
V Moore one of the Justices Elected for the town of Otsego, appeared; and
Chester Jarvis also a Justice elected being absent the undersigned Supervisor
appeared in his place and having drawn lots agreeable to Law the said Abraham V.
Moore drew for two years from the 1st Jan’y 1840 and Chester Jarvis for four years -
