Seeking info ref my ggGrandfather Norman ADAMS (B. 1799, Oak Hill,
NY) son of Thomas ADAMS ( b. 1766). Adams Gen shows Norman was Rector of
St Matthews Episcopal Church in Unadilla, NY, and was married to Caroline
FRISBEE. Our family history shows Norman married Rebecca WRIGHT.
Cemetery records confirm the FRISBEE marriage, I suppose two marriages
are a possibility. I would apreciate any info on these folks or their

AINSWORTH
My four greats-grandfather, Daniel AINSWORTH, died in 1810 in Cherry
Valley, Otsego County, New York, according to the Ainsworth Family in
North America Genealogy by Parker (1894). I am looking for evidence of
his death such as a record of some sort. So far I have come up blank.
In particular I am looking for a date when he moved from Columbia County
(last record 1791)to Otsego County. His youngest son, Philip AINSWORTH,
married Mary CRONKHITE from Danube,Herkimer County, New York, probably
about 1800. It is likely that he lived in Cherry Valley around this
time. Daniel AINSWORTH's wife was Elizabeth CORBIN. I am also looking for
evidence of her death. Philip's wife, Mary CRONKHITE, may have also died
in Otsego County. Any help would be appreciated.

located James on the 1850 census of Otsego Co pg 39. On the census
he was living as a farm hand for another family at the age of 17,
while viewing the census I located several other COOK children
living in different homes. So it's possible that James's Parents
were no longer living in 1850. The 1940 census was of no help.

NY census records place Robert English in Delaware Co. in 1800,
1810, 1820 in Harpersfield and 1830 in Harpersfield. In 1830 we
find Rachel English in town of Maryland, not far away in Otsego
Co. I have ancestors Robert and Rachel English. They may have
been Irish and/or Wesleyan Methodists. They had a son Noble
English, supposedly in 1797 but the 1800 census doesn't show a
baby. However, 1810 shows one boy under ten, and a boy and a
girl 10-16. How can I go deeper in verifying this info and
connecting these folks, who may be my GGGGparents? Is there
a NY newsgroup? Are there newsgroups focussed on county

Census as in Butternuts, Otsego, and on the 1830 Census as in New
Berlin, Chenango. Believe he is my great-great-great-great grandfather
who disappears from Vermont records in around 1800. This Timothy applied
for a pension from Otsego Co. in 1818 giving age as 72, which fits my
Timothy (born Stoughton, Mass in 1746). My Timothy also had a daughter
Betsey born in Hartland, Vermont who appears to have married a Reuben
Nichols of Woodstock, Vermont. I note that a Betsey Nichols is listed as
one of the pioneer settlers in Butternuts. Do these folks appear in

1834 in New York. Timothy was raised by a Rev. Daniel BOLTON who is
listed on the 1830 census in Burlington, Otsego County, New York. Who
were Hannah's parents? Also on the 1830 census for Otsego County were
several GOODRICH families, including a Calvin and his son Calvin Ripley
GOODRICH. Timothy and Hannah moved to Erie County, Pennsylvania where
their four oldest daughters were born. I found them there on the 1840
census. A few lines down the page was *Voila!* Calvin Ripley GOODRICH.
Were Hannah and Calvin related? Or is this a huge coincidence? Hannah

Hartom born Oct. 4,1811 I believe in Cherry Valley. His son James
Hartom born Dec 16,1852 in Roseboom, Otsego, Ny, is my ggg grand-
father. While in Otsego, I was able to view a baptismal record
from the Lutheran Church in Cherry Valley (founded in the early
1800's and long since abandoned, the foundation and a few grave
markers remain.)In the record a Jacob Hartung is referenced with
his wife, Elizabeth, having their son Michael being baptized. The
birth date of this Michael is also Oct 4, 1811. While referencing
the history of Otsego County I found that a Lutheran Church was
founded in the Cherry Valley Area and one of its officer/deacons
was named Jacob Hartorm. While all of this circumstantial evidence
may point to my ggggg grandfather and a possible family name
change, to date I have been unable to confirm this to my satis-

May, 1803, Otsego Co.NY. Sally Livingston's parents were James
and Susannah (Jackson) Livingston of Columbia Co.and Otsego Co.
In the 1820 census, I find #075-Charles Jackson, #076-John
Jackson, #077- Dennis Hopkins, #078- Increase Jackson, #079-
William Jackson. Dennis later removed to Otsego Co. and then
to Cortland Co. where he, Sally, and Sally's parents are buried.
MY question: Does any one know of a family connection between
these Jacksons and Dennis Hopkins, in this 1820 census.

state her father was Jeremiah Hopkins and her mother was Naomi Smith.

I'm researching the John Hosner
(or Hasner) family who is said to have lived in
Otsego County in 1800, when a Nicholas Hosner
was born. Nicholas probably remained in this
county until 1818 when he married an Abigail,
maiden name unknown and then moved to
Jefferson County, N. Y. (Town of Alexandria).
If anyone has evidence of this family ever living

Ebenezer Houghton, b. 1750 in MA, and came abt 1800 to Otsego Co. Jonas

was my lines's Tomkins Houghton, b. 1810, Maryland, Otsego, who died
1872. He married Phoebe ___,b. abt 1811, prob in Delaware Co., NY.
Questions: 1. Who was Jonas' wife? 2. Could her maiden name be Tompkins,
and her son be named after her? 3. When and where did Jonas and Hannah
die, and where buried?
4. What was Phoebe's maiden name, and where born, and when did she marry

I am researching the BARBERS and HOUGHTONS in Chautauqua/ Livingston
/Otsego Co. This is what I have so far.
1. Phineas HOUGHTON m. Nancy ? He was in Otsego Co for the 1810 &
1820
census. Then in Leicester, Livingston Co.for the 1830 census. In 1840,
he was in Westfield, Chautauqua. Co. Phineas may have had a brother
named Nehemiah.
They had at least one daughter.
2. Lucy HOUGHTON (b. 1802 d. 5/3/1835 in Leicester, Livingston
Co. NY buried Teeds Corners (Taunton) Cemetary) m. 10/19/1822 in
Leicester NY to Issac BARBER.

Charles M. JOHNSON b. May 1, 1830 d. Dec. 22, 1908 - my great
great grandfather, is listed on 1855 - 1875 Town of Burlington,
Otsego Co., NY census as having been born in Madison Co., NY.
He was raised from early childhood by Lewis & Nancy SWINNEY, who
first appear, without Charles in their household, on the 1830
census of Brookfield, Madison Co., NY. This census also lists
Tylor JOHNSON as the only household of this surname to contain
male children under the age of 5 yrs. in Brookfield. It is
beleived that Charles attended school in Edmeston, Otsego Co.,
NY circa 1840-1850 possibly under the name of Charles SWINNEY
and first used the name JOHNSON prior to his marriage to Betsey
R. ARNOLD abt. 1860 in Burlington, NY where they resided. Their
son Frank A. JOHNSON was born here in 1860 and in his adulthood
became principle of Laurel Ave. School #10 in Binghamton, NY
where Charles moved and died after the death of his wife Betsey.

McKEEVER
In the 1850 and 1860 census for the town of Otego (or
Otsego?), in Otsego Co., NY there was a McKeever Family. William and
Elizabeth McKeever were both born in NYS abt. 1795+ and they had children
including William Jr., Julia, and Samuel. William Jr. married Lydia (?)
by 1858 and they had a daughter named Julia b. in 1858. The family later
relocated to Susquehanna Co. PA. I cannot find the origins of this
McKeever family. I've seen it spelled a few different ways, but the
family spelled it MCKEEVER ! There was an Archibald and a John McKEEVERs
on earlier NYS census. Any ideas ???

MORRELL
Researching the descendants of Hugh Morriell/Morrell,
a merchant from Ireland, in Mass., before coming to Richfield
Springs, Otsego Co., around 1800. His son, Robert is enumerated
in the 1800 census for that township. The Jacob, Jonathan and
Daniel of Milford Twp. may be related as well. Some of the
Morrells relocated to Springfield & Conneaut Twps., Erie Co., PA,
where Hugh's son in-law, Medad Pomeroy, had purchased land.

Woodland, Barry Co., MI) and his wife, Mariah Polly BATES (28 Nov 1815,
Newstead, Erie Co., NY - 23 Apr 1896, Woodland, Barry Co., MI).
The will of John MYERS of Laurens Otsego Co., NY lists his children:
Clarissa, wife of James ELDRED; Hannah, wife of Harvey ELDRED; Polly,
wife of Isaac BRIGGS; Noel; Wilis, husband of Elizabeth HARRINGTON; Job;
John; and George. I believe my George is the youngest son of John MYERS
and Phoebe ANDREWS of Laurens, Otsego Co., NY, but I haven't been able to
document it.
