I have a ancestor who served
in the Naval Services in the Revolutionary War (out of Rhode Island). In
1795 he and his wife (Betsey Sweet) left Rhode Island and settled in Otsego
Co., near Fly Creek ?? then moved to Ritchfield. Betsey died in 1838 and
Peleg then married a Susannah Howard (widow of Jacob Howard). Peleg &
Susannah married May 5, 1839 in Attica, N.Y. Peleg Peck died November 4,
1849 in Attica. There is no record of him being buried there. I have
contacted the town historian(for Attica) and the D.A.R. to no avail. I was
wondering if he maybe was returned to Otsego to be buried by his first wife
?? Do you have the names of old cemeteries that I could contact or would
the local historians have early burial records? What about the local
chapters of the D.A.R.? Any suggestions you could give me would be
appreciated. Peleg and his first wife Betsey (Sweet) lived in Otsego for
many years. They had thirteen (13) children. EGAD !!! Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

George Mathew Lawless Sr. DOB 4/23/1893, SSN 157-24-0995 was born
to Mathew Lawless of Dubland Irl. and Alice Louise Hood who resided in Otsego
County. I have also been informed that Alice Hood resided with an aunt Inez
Bell at Ridgefield springs. There is also a connection to General John Bell
Hood, CSA, here but I don't as of yet have the "hows". So to answer your
question directly, I believe Otsego County is where it begins.
Any information on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
