There are three major repositories of genealogical
data in libraries in Otsego County. Two are in public libraries
and the third is located in Cooperstown at the New York State
Historical Association. In addition, some of the colleges have
large historical collections. These are listed below.

The Huntington Library This is the largest public library in Otsego County and is
located in the city of Oneonta. From this site you can search the Four County Library
System database and connect to a page listing items contained in the library's New York
State History Room. Records include searchable obituary indexes, genealogy files, state
and federal census schedules, city directories, yearbooks, and scrapbooks. Contact

New York State Historical Association - Research Library This library is not on-line.
However this site can give you more information on their collection. Anyone with Otsego
County connections will find a wealth of resources at the Research Library of the New
York State Historical Association at Cooperstown. A basic or individual membership is
$45 and a household membership (two individuals) is $60. The reference fee for non-members
of the association is $35 (research by mail) and allows for up to 10 photocopies. The daily
use fee for non-members remains $9. NYSHA members, NYSHA volunteers, and students are exempt.
