The deceased was an old resident of the town in which he died, and for many years a faithful member of the Baptists Church. All who knew him, knows he died entirely above the reproach of all, and especially with those who find fault with the lives of professed christians, his was a live of honest industry and he has left the priceless legacy of a spotless reputation, not only to a large number of relations but to the entire neighborhood, and happy would it be for each relation and neighbor, to strive to imitate those virtues which they have so long and so willingly accorded to him. His honest heart spurned with utter contempt the mantle of modern hypocrisy, but always expressed himself as a firm believer in the Bible doctrine of salvation. During his last illness, although his body and mind were rocked with intense pain, and great was his sufferings, yet when questioned about his hopes beyond the grave, he said death had no terror for him-that he put his trust in his Saviour whom he shortly expected to meet before eternities awful bar; but he feared not the sentence which would then be pronounced. In a word, he lived an honest life and died in the triumphs of faith. As I stood by his open grave amid the tearful throng, the beautiful lines of the poet came uncalled across my mind. "And I am glad that he has lived thus long, And glad that he has gone to his reward; Nor deem that kindly nature did him wrong, Softly to disengage the vital cord When his weak hand grew palsied and his eye Dark with the dim of age, it was his time to die." 4/14/1858 MARRIED In Croton, on April 3d, by Rev. In the death of Mr. Bundy, the community has lost one of its most valuable citizens. In all the relations of life, he was a true man, a warm friend, honorable, high-minded, and always energetic in promoting the best interests of the public. As a farmer, he practically has done as much as any other citizen for the promotion of agriculture in this country; he was for twenty years an active member of an agricultural society, and contributed largely to its success. 4/28/1858 MARRIED Married in Cooperstown, at Keys Hotel, on April 22d, by Rev. LAMPHEAR, aged about 20 years. There is no considerable dissatisfaction felt in our neighborhood on the account of the above marriage, and especially in the family of the bride (and justly too) so much so, that she has been requested to "vamose the ranch." The reverend gentleman has injured one of his most nearest neighbors by uniting the above couple. - Meredith. 1/12/1859 MARRIED In West Laurens, on January 2d, by Erie Tucker, Esq., Mr. Seward HUBBARD, to Miss Harriet CARR, all of Laurens. Her death was sudden; but to her it was a sudden transition to the home of the blest. She sleeps in Jesus. J. T. C. 8/31/1859 DIED At his residence in this village, on the morning of the 25th inst., after an illness of nine days, Mr. S. S. NEWMAN, aged 36 years. In the death of Mr. Newman, this community have lost a business man of high standing in society.- His death brings sadness to many hearts, but none feel it more keenly than does the members of his own family, and the church of which he was a worthy member, to whom he was endeared for his many virtues. The large concourse of people which attended his funeral, paying the last tribute of respect to their friend and neighbor,- showed how deeply they sympathized with his surviving friends. He has left a widow and one child, and a host of warm friends to mourn his departure from earth to that land from whence no traveller will return; his sudden death, should be a warning to us all to be prepared to meet our God, for we know not the day or the hour when we shall be called to follow him. - ED. In Oneonta, on the 11th inst., Diadama M., daughter of the late Robert COOK, Esq., and Sabra his surviving companion, in the 18th year of her age. Thus has one been cut down in the bloom of youth and surrounded by all the endearments of life. She was the light and joy of the domestic circle, cheering by kind and affectionate words and deeds the heart of her widowed mother, and other members of the afflicted family. She had gathered around her a large circle of friends, to whom she had greatly endeared herself by kind and amiable deportment and her constancy and devotion as a friend. But a change has come over those circles, their joy is extinguished. Pale death has come and laid his icy hand on the loved one, the lustre of those eyes is dimmed, the beauty of that countenance is faded out, the sweet accents of that voice are hushed, the grave has received its own. But death was not an unwelcome visitor. Although at first she surprised and almost overcome with the thought that she must leave her friends and die, while yet so young; yet after a little time to collect herself and examine the foundation of her hope in Christ, she became perfectly resigned and longed for the hour to come when it should be the "will of God" to take her home. She died in peace leaving an afflicted mother to mourn the loss of her only child, and a large circle of friends and youthful companions, one of their brightest ornaments. Her funeral services were attended at the house of the deceased by a large concourse of people, and a sermon was preached no the occasion by Elder J. Smith, Jr., from Rev. XX. 20, words which fell from her lips just as she passed to the skies. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." 9/7/1859 MARRIED At the residence of the bride's father in this town, on the 1st inst., by Rev. D. L. Pendell, Mr. James H.
