Last Will and Testament of Pelatiah Bliss deceased.

In the name of God Amen. I Pelatiah Bliss of the Town of Exeter in the County of Otsego and State of New York, being weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following / that is to say/ after all my just debts are paid and satisfied I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Bliss one third of all my real and personal estate to have and to hold during her natural life. I also give and bequeath to my oldest son Pelatiah Bliss, Junr. the sum of four hundred dollars, being the sum which he now owes me, together with one third of my personal property which I now have in this place. I also give and bequeathe to my daughter Hannah Vibber one third of my personal property which is now in this place. I also give and bequeathe to the heirs of my daughter Elizabeth now deceased all the personal property which I left in the State of Connecticut to be equally divided amongst them. I also give and bequeath to my younger son John Bliss the one third of my personal after the decease of my wife. I further give and devise to my younger son John Bliss, his heirs and assigns, all my real estate lying and being in the town of Exeter, aforesaid, together with all my other freehold estate whatsoever to hold to him the said John Bliss his heirs and assigns forever--.

I do further will and order that the said John Bliss should pay to my grand daughter Lucretia Rogers one Cow and ten sheep out of that part of my estate which I bequeath unto him when ever the said Lucretia shall at fifteen years of age. I do further will and order that if my wife should die during the infancy of the said Lucretia that the said John Bliss should provide for her maintainance untill she is capable of taking care of herself. And lastly I do hereby appoint John Bliss my sole Executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fourteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve-

Be it remembered that on the thirteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve, personally appeared before me, Ambrose Clark Surrogate for the County of Otsego, aforesaid Caleb Angel of said County who being duly sworn testified and said that he saw Pelatiah Bliss sign and seal the within Instrument in writing purporting to be the will of the said Pelatiah Bliss and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament. That at the time thereof he then said Pelatiah Bliss was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him the deponent and that his name subscribed to the said will is of his own proper handwriting which he subscribed as a witness thereto in the Testators presence and that he saw William G Angel and Joshua Angle the other witnesses to the said wil,l subscrihe their names as witnesses thereto in the testators presence and in the presence of each other.
