Will of Thomas Joslyn
I Thomas Joslyn of Butternuts in the County of Otsego and State of New York do make and ordain this my last will and testament I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Martha Joslin all the Goods and Chattels or movables of whatsoever nature may belong to me at the time of my decease together with all money I may be possessed of after the payment of my Just debts and I do allow her the said Martha Joslyn her lawful right of Dower of in and to certain real estate heretofore conveyed by me to my Son Lovid Eddy Joslyn and of in and to the following devise now made I give and devise to my youngest Son the above named Lovid Eddy Joslyn thirty five acres of Land being the Homestead on the North end of the west Moiety or half part of Lot No 21 in the track called the Hillington patent and Town of Butternuts joining on and North of seventy acres of Land heretofore conveyed by me to my Son Thomas Joslin Junior to have and to hold to him the said Lovid Eddy Joslin and to his heirs and assigns forever Having made the provision for my other children to wit Thomas, Charles, Abigail, Dorithy, Martha Rhoda and Bethiny and Linda I leave them Each Ten cents to be paid in money and lastly as to all the rest (if there be) of my personal Estate Goods and chattels of what kind matter so ever I give and bequeath to my said beloved Wife Martha Joslyn who I hereby appoint Executrix of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the fifteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred witnesses in the Presence of the Testator Signed William Wilson Mary Moris Jacob Moris The within named Thomas Joslyn adds this Codicil to his last will and testament hereunto annexed for the purpose of declaring his intention will and desire that his beloved Wife Martha Joslyn shall during her natural life possess occupy and enjoy all and singular the income profits and advantages to she in Law and equity of in and to this Estate given or devised in and by the Last will of the said Thomas Joslyn hereunto annexed as aforesaid to his Son Loved Eddy Joslin as is therein described anything therein expressed to the contrary not withstanding in witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal this 2nd day of July 1811 Signed Thomas Joslyn LS Signed Sealed published and declared by the Moris Jos Persall John Brownell The within named Thomas Joslin adds this additional Codicil to his last will and testament hereunto annexed for the purpose of expressing and declaring it his intention will and desire that at it last pleased Almighty God to remove his late beloved wife Martha from this life who died on Tuesday the last of March last his Son the within mentioned Loved Eddy Joslin shall enjoy possess and occupy all and singular the Estate Goods and Chattels which were devised bequeathed to her the said Martha Joslyn deceased for the same benefit and behoof of him the said Loved Eddy Joslin his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby constitute and appoint him the said Loved Eddy Joslin the sole executor of my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto put Remembered that on the Ninth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred thirteen personally appeared before me Billi Williams Jr Surrogate of the said County Jacob Moris one of the subscribing witnesses to the last will and testament of Thomas Joslyn late of said county deceased and to a Codicil to the same Bearing date the 2nd day of July 1811 Also to a Second Codicil to the said will bearing date the 1st day of May 1812 who being duly sworn declared that he did see the said Thomas Joslyn sign seal and execute the written Instrument of which the annexed is a copy purporting to be the will of the said Joslin and the Codicils to the same and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and Testament that at the time thereof he the said Thos Joslin was of Sound disposing mind and Memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him the deponent and that his name Subscribed to the said will and Codicils is of his own proper handwriting which Severally Subscribed thereto as a witness in the Testators presence and that he saw Mary Morris and William Wilson the other witnesses to the said will and Jos Pearsall and John Brownell the other witnesses to the codicil and Lewis Lee Morris and Sarah J Morris the other witnesses to the second Codicil to the said will Severally Subscribe their names as witnesses thereto in the Testators presence and in the presence of Each other Also appeared before me at the same time Loved Eddy Joslin Executor Named to the said Will and was duly qualified to the true performance by taking the usual Oath as Executor Signed Billi Williams Jun Surrogate The People of the State of New York By the Grace of God Free and Independent: To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern Send Greeting Know Ye that at Coopers Town in the County of Otsego and the State of New York on the Ninth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen Before Billi Williams Jun Esquire Surrogate of our Said County the last will and testament of Thomas Joslyn deceased (a copy whereof is hereunto Annexed) was proved and is now approved and allowed of by us and the Said deceased having whilst living and at the time of his death Goods Chattels or Credits within this state by means whereof the proving and registering the said Will and the granting adm inistrarion of all and Singular the said Goods Chattels and credits and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the account thereof doth belong unto us the administration of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and credits of the said deceased and anyway concerning his will is granted unto Loved Eddy Joslyn Executor in the said will named they being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and to make and Exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said goods chattels and credits and also to render a Just and true account thereof when thereunto required In
