Sommers-Brown Wedding
Held at Home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Summers in Hartsgrove.
Miss Mayme Sommers,
one of Hartsgrove's splendid daughters, was married at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Sommers, Saturday evening, June 2nd, to Mr. Floyd Brown
of Orwell. All pains had been taken to make the occasion pleasing and
impressive, happy faces and pretty gowns doing their part. The bridal
dress of white satin being a reflection of the refinement and taste
shown in the home decorations.
Miss Clara Schultz, of Cleveland, gave much pleasure by singing a number of charming selections.
At
9:30 the young couple attended by little Edith and Howard Brown, flower
bearers; Miss Georgia Sommers and Foster Brown took position beneath a
bower of ferns and flowers and accepted the vows of holy wedlock as set
forth in the beautiful ring ceremony pronounced by Rev. Earl Brown.
Following congratulations a splendid dinner was served.
The
guests present not already mentioned were Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Brown,
Harold Brown, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Brown, Mr.
and Mrs. Wick Sellars and daughter, Miss Helen Anderson, of Orwell;

bride has many friends among the townsmen of Hartsgrove where she has
been a most successful teacher, the past school year was very happily
spent in the schools of McDonaldsville, O.

The announcement of the marriage of Miss Helen Hurlburt, formerly of Jefferson, on Tuesday, June 5th, at Chicago, has been received by local friends. The groom is Mr. Ross Henry Theil.
Mr. and Mrs. Theil will be at home after July 1st at 1185 Lawton Ave.,
Chicago. Mrs. Theil is the only daughter of the late John E. Hurlburt
and Jessie Windslow Hurlburt, and was born in Jefferson. She is a
granddaughter of Mrs. E. G. Hurlburt of Jefferson. The wedding
announcement was issued by Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Pease, of Chicago.

Miss Nellie M. Howell and Karl I. Meigs,
both of this city, were quietly married by Rev. D. J. Elsen [?], pastor
of the First Christian Church, at the parsonage, 1111 Greenwood avenue,
at 7:30 Tuesday evening, Jan. 15 in the presence of a few intimate
friends. The bride was attended by Mrs. L. G. Bogardus and daughter,
Miss Pearl, of 793 River street, at whose home she had been staying
since her arrival in Canon City in June of last year. The bride is an
attractive young woman and has made many friends during her sojourn in
this community. She is a member of the Christian church, and came here
from southern Illinois. The groom is a successful and prosperous young
ranchers on East Grand Ave., Lincoln Park, and commands the respect and
esteem of his neighbors and of the public generally. Mr. and Mrs. Meigs
have already gone to housekeeping on Lincoln Park, where an attractive
home was awaiting them at the time of their marriage. Their friends

A very quiet wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ira
Leonard of Lenox Saturday, June 21, 1919, by Rev. J. A. Goodrich, when Miss Florence M. Leonard of Lenox, O., was united in marriage to William L. Van Tassell of Ashtabula, O.
The bride wore a beautiful dress of messaline and crepe de chine and
carried a corsage of pink roses and ferns. The bride received many
beautiful gifts. After the ceremony light refreshments were served.
Only the near relatives were present.

Harper-Brown Wedding
Bradford Harper and Winifred Brown, Jefferson young
people, were united in marriage on Thursday evening, July 3rd, 1919, at
the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. V. H. Tuttle, Madison, Ohio.
Reverend William S. Baker performed the marriage ceremony in the
presence of a few friends. The serious illness of the groom's father,
R. E. Harper, caused a change in the plans of the couple, for a home
wedding.
Mrs. Bradford Harper is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Brown and
has for several years been a popular and efficient clerk for The
Jefferson Banking Company. Bradford Harper is in the employ of the Ship
Building Plant of Ashtabula. Mr. and Mrs. Harper will make their home
in Jefferson and are extended the best wishes of the entire community.

TROTH PLIGHTED AT WOODLAND BEACH
Orwell Romance Consummated Before Vast Crowd
On Evening of July Fourth at Ashtabula,
Now on Honeymoon Trip.
The attraction extraordinary at Woodland Beach, Ashtabula, July 4th,
was the marriage, in the bandstand at 9 o'clock in the evening of Ralph D. Allison of Colebrook and Florence I. Geer,
of Orwell. A marriage always draws the curious [possibly because it is
the one sacred ceremony of our day] and as this one had been publicly
announced, the crowd that gathered was estimated to be about 5,000
people.
There was nothing lacking to make this wedding a very notable one.
There was music and a huge crowd and the motion picture people were on
hand, busy perpetuating the event through the medium of the cinema.
Mr. and Mrs. Allison are both graduates of the Orwell High Schools. They will be at home in Colebrook after August 1st.

A quiet wedding occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Pierce, Wednesday, Dec. 31, when Miss Lucille Joiner, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Joiner of East Jefferson, became the wife of Mr. Addison Brenneman
of Toledo. Both the young people were graduates of the class of 1918 of
Jefferson High School. The best wishes of the community are extended to
the young couple. Mr. and Mrs. Brenneman left immediately for their
home in Toledo.

Ruby L. Hotchkiss, formerly of Jefferson, but now of Zion City, Ill., was united in marriage to Mr. Charles A. Duvall,
also of Zion City, on Jan. 24, 1920. Mrs. C. A. Duvall has long been a
popular forelady in the Marshall Field Industries. She was very
generously remembered by her employers with many valuable gifts, also a
check for $75. She still holds her position with the Marshall Fields
company. Mr. Duvall is a skilled workman in Zion City.

Harold Wright
left home suddenly Wednesday noon in his every day clothes, and all
efforts to locate him during the afternoon were fruitless. However, the
next day it leaked out that he and Miss Mena Benson of Denmark
went to Jefferson, then returning to Conneaut were very quietly married
at the home of Rev. R. E. Benjamin at seven o'clock, afterward leaving
for parts unknown. If they should return they will live in East
Conneaut where Mr. Wright has bought a place and will run a milk depot.
They have the best wishes of their many friends [Farnham item].

SMITH-SMITH WEDDING
A very pretty wedding took place Wednesday, October 20th, when Mr. Roy L. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Smith and Miss Lena Ruth Smith,
eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Smith, were united in marriage at
the Bulah U. B. parsonage., Pastor J. W. Hevlow officiating. The high
contracting parties come from highly respectable families and belong to
our most popular young people at Griggs. Their many friends wish them a
happy and prosperous future. After a brief trip to Niagara Falls and
Oil City they will return to Griggs and begin housekeeping in the
commodious farm home of the groom's father.

Lawrence Latimer Married to St. Petersburg Girl
IN THE REAL ESTATE BUSINESS
WITH HIS FATHER
A letter from W. S. Latimer of St. Petersburg, Flr., formerly of
Jefferson, incloses a clipping from a St. Petersburg paper, announcing
the wedding of Lawrence Latimer to Miss Katie Harvey of that city.
Following is the St. Petersburg report:
An interesting event of this morning was the marriage of Miss Katie
Harvey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Harvey, and Mr. Lawrence
Latimer, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Latimer, all of this city, which
took place at 9 o'clock at the residence of Rev. E. T. Poulson, pastor
of the First Baptist church, at 224 Tenth avenue, north. The impressive
ring ceremony was used by Rev. Poulson, only the members of the
families and a few close friends being present.
The bride was most attractive in a frock of gray crepe, with shoes and
hat also gray. Here flowers were a corsage bouquet of bride's roses.
For traveling she wore a handsome suit of navy blue Poiret twill with
hat and accessories to match.
Immediately after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Latimer left by automobile
for an extensive tour of the state, after which they will return to
this city to make their home.
Mr. Latimer has made this city her home the greater part of her life
and is a graduate of the St. Petersburg High school. She has many
friends here who will learn with interest of her marriage. An
interesting feature of the event is that the ceremony took place on the
birthday of Mrs. Latimer.
Mr. Latimer is a well known young man of this city where he has been
associated in the real estate business with his father. Since coming
here from Jefferson, O., to make his home.
