sisters, Mrs. T. W. Simmons and Mrs. H. C. Rood and a twin sister, Mrs.
Tom Wallace, who lives in Calif. He has seven grandchildren. He will be
much missed for he had a good word for everyone.
One by one earth's ties are broken,
As we see our love decay;
And the hopes so fondly cherished,
Brighten but to pass away.
One by one our hopes grow brighter,
As we near the shining shore;
For we know across the river,
Wait the love ones gone before.

DEATH OF MRS. MARION FRENCH
Occurred at Home of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Webber
Mrs. Marion French, one of the oldest residents of this village, died
at the home of her friends, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Webber on west Satin
Street, on Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m. after eight days of
unconsciousness. Her passing was peaceful as in sleep. Mrs. French
would have been 90 years old on July 31, 1921. Her husband, Loren
French, preceded her many years ago.
Mrs. French was born in Lenox. For many years she lived on north
Chestnut street in the home owned by the editor, and it was our
pleasure as a small boy to visit Aunty French. There were always the
sweetest apples in her yard and both Mr. and Mrs. French enjoyed having
the small children of the neighborhood visit them. For several years
after her husband's death Mrs. French remained in the old home and
lived with the late J. E. Hurlburt and wife, as a member of the family.
For several years she made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ticknor.
Becoming unable to care for herself, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Webber invited
her to spend the rest of her days with them. Mr. Webber, when a boy,
lived with Mr. and Mrs. French.
Although not a graduate of the local schools, Mrs. French was a member
of the first graduating class of which but one person survives, Mr. B.
J. Loomis of Buffalo, N. Y. Mrs. French was made an honorary member of
the local alumni.
The funeral of this gentlewoman will be held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. T. L. Webber on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. J.
A. Goodrich.
