CLARK
I found a western union telegram in some old letters and papers that belonged to my grandmother. It was sent to my great-grandmother, Vernie N. Mayhan-Weiss, by her niece Rose Mary Clark. It's dated August 24, 1948 and it reads:
"Mother passed away today=Rose Mary Clark="
It was sent from Athalia, Oh. I also have a letter dated July 25, 1948, from Rosemary to Vernie with a reference to Athalia in the top corner above the date.
My great-grandmothers sisters name was Gracie Odell Mayhan. I think she was married twice, first to a man named Styles (first name unknown)and then to George Clark. I think she had atleast one child with Mr. Styles and her name was Kathryn.
In Rosemary's letter to Vernie she mentions that she plans on getting married soon, that her mother is not feeling well, that her father is having a hard time keeping himself busy, as he has recently retired (from store business?).
I sent away for a death certificate from the Ohio Department of Health and they said they did not have a death certificate for Gracie. I'll try Virginia next.
We have a picture of Gracie sitting on the bumper of a car with a Virginia License Plate. It was probably taken in the late 1930's or early 1940's.
Gracie and Vernie were both born in Newport, Jackson County, Arkasas. Their parents were James Riley Mayhan and Mattie Clementine Medley.
I would be very interested in finding Rose Mary or Kathryn or anyone knowing of them. Any help or advise you can give would be much appreciated. I believe that Rose Mary was in her early 20's in 1948, and probably in her 70's now.

ARTHUR
I'm trying to locate any information on James P. ARTHUR. I have found him on the 1860 and 1870 censuses for Lawrence Co., OH. The age of James on each census is confusing as he is listed as age 31 in 1860 and age 47 in 1870. I'm sure it's the same person though because wife is Mary and children are the same. I believe he probably died in Lawrence Co. I'm looking for a death date or obituary to try and find out additional family information, i.e. parents, etc. I have ordered the Lawrence Co. death index from my FHC here but it will be several weeks before they can get it. Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

GILL or possibly "GILLMANN"
Charles William "Willie" Gill and his wife Caroline Gill immigrated from Prussia with their children: Albert, Charles, Willie, August, Fred, Amelia and Mary. They were sent from New York on a boat down the Ohio River. They were sent to Lawrence County, Ohio. My great-grandmother was Amelia Christina Gill. She was two years old and could only speak German. Amelia does not know her real name. The "Gill" name was shortened. She was born around 1872 in Prussia. Are there any records reflecting where in Prussia they came from? What their real surname was?

PERKINS, GOSSETT & JONES
Seeking burial information on g-grandfather Isaac GOSSETT b. 1852 in Lawrence County to Mathias and Rachel PERKINS GOSSETT. Married Dilsey Violet JONES April 1879; children Edmond, ALonzo, Allen and Maggie. Moved to Muncie, Indiana about 1900, but disappeared from family in 1905, whereabouts after that unknown. Family lore has him buried in Perkins Ridge Cemetery, Windsor Twp., in the old GOSSETT section in an unmarked grave. Have not been able to find a death certificate or verification of burial. Any information appreciated, all responses answered.
