Seek information on LEMUEL MILTON BAILEY. He was b in KY in l825, and married CENIA JACKSON (b l828 in Ky.) iin l847 in Wayne Co. VA (now WV) They lived in Wayne Co. Va. until about l865 when they moved to Lawrence Co. Ohio. They are found in the l870 and l880 census of Lawrence Co. Perry Twp. LEMUEL BAILEY served in the Union army in the Civil War in Co. B 14th KY Cavalry. I have no death date but he is buried in the Union Cemetery on Tallow Ridge Road, in Chesapeake, Ohio. His grave marker was erected by the government and shows only his name and Co B. 14th KY Cavalry

I am seeking information about Phillip and Mary W. SCHNORR who lived in Lawrence county - Ironton area for a time. They had 15 children - some of them were born in Lawrence Co. Lucinda SCHNORR married a John Patrick HENRY. She is reported to have died in Ironton. I am only sure about the names of some of the children: John C., Lucinda. Adam, Fredrick, George A and Julia.

According to family tradition, my maternal grandmother, Rose Belle DEWITT was born December 20, 1880 in Decatur, Lawrence Co. OH. However, to make things even more confusing, my mothers birth certificate list Rosa's birth place as "Sawanee County, Ohio" Of course, there is no Sawanee County, Ohio. There is a Shawnee, Ohio in Perry County.

I haven't been able to find any trace of any DeWitts in Lawrence Co.

My grandparents were married in Huntington, WV May 10, 1899. Any clues or suggestions would be aprreciated.

I am seeking information on a GEORGE S. ROLLINS, born in Lawrence Co., Mar 30, 1872. He moved to Jackson Co., Ohio (Milton Twp.) sometime between the time of his birth and 1880. In the 1880 Jackson Co. census he was listed living with his grandmother MARY ROLLINS who was 60 years-old at the time. Living nearby was a GEORGE HALTERMAN, married to a MARGARET ____ and his step-son WILLIAM ROLLINS who was 11 years-old at the time. George and Margaret later adopted George Rollins, I figured after his grandmother died. Also, I wonder how William Rollins and George Rollins were related, if they were ?

According to his obituary in the Ironton Register dated Nov. 30, 1905, he lived in Hecla Furnace and later Ironton, spending "several years" in each place, until he left Lawrence County around 1890. Any further details about Joseph, his immediate family (especially his wife's name, not listed in the obituary), and his ancestors would be greatly appreciated.

John McINTIRE was born in 1828 somewhere in Ohio. He married Eleanor FOILES in 1846 in Lawrence County, OH. He had brothers Ira, William, George and Shadrack. I have been unable to learn the names of their parents. There was a John McINTIRE in Lawrence County in the 1840 Federal Census with children whose ages could correspond to these sons. By the 1850 Federal Census this family was no longer listed. Son John and his wife Eleanor and young child were listed in Rome Twp. There were William and Ira with spouses, but I don't know if they were his brothers. If anyone has any knowledge of this family, I'd be most grateful to hear from you.

I am doing research on my family who lived from time to time in Lawrence and Scioto Counties. In 1850 my great grandfather, John STATEN and his wife Nancy, aged 29 and 37 respectively lived in Lawrence county with their children, Abram, Morris, Charles, William and Mahala. In 1860 and as late as 1864 they were in Vernon Township at Howard Furnace in Scioto County. My grandfather, William Washington STATON (spelling changed from Staten) entered service with 173rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry organized at Gallipolis, Ohio, later lived in Ashland, Kentucky where he died in 1914. I have particular interest in locating a photo and any information pertaining to Vincent DILLON(1809-1892), my gggrandfather and former resident of Windsor Twp. He and his wife, Hannah JACKSON SHRIVER, were originally from Greene Co., PA, had thirteen children and are buried in the Scottown Cemetery located just off Rte 217, 1.5 miles NE of Scottown.

I am looking for information on these surnames; PEMBERTON, LAYNE, THOMPSON, MATNEY.

My gr grandmother Ella Mae LAYNE (b. 5/1/1866 d. 12/12/1937) lived at 2108 S. 4th Street in Ironton circa 1920 to 1937 with her second husband Albert BROOM. They were married on 1/30/1915. His nickname was Buckey. He was a fireman. Her parents were William C. LAYNE and Mary MATNEY. I think they lived in Coal Grove but am not sure. Her siblings were Lydia (BAYER), Ralph, Charles, William and Bud.

Her first husband, my gr grandfather was William Merida PEMBERTON (b. 8/11/1857 d. 7/15/1929) and they lived at 594 S. 4th in 1914 and at 663 S. 3rd in 1911. His parents were Joseph H. PEMBERTON (maybe from Kentucky) and Mary THOMPSON (fr Virginia). His siblings were; Liz, Perry, James, Edward, Nancy and Mary. Ella and William were married circa 1884 and had three children; Lida (married Wes Steele), Elsie Ray (married John J. Wilson) and Dora Isabelle.

I need anything on LAYNE and PEMBERTON.
