Here lies inter'd ye body of Mary Brown widow and relict of John Brown, dec'd August ye 18, 1736, in ye 66 year of her age
Old Age being come her race here now ends
When God ye fatal Dart he fends
Here lieth ye body of James Brown, died Octo ye 28, 1732 in ye 66th year of his age
In Memory of Cap. James Brown, son of James Brown, Efq and Mrs. Hope his wife, who departed this life in York in Virginia February the 15, AD 1750/1, aged 26? years, ?? mo & 7? days
In Memory of Chad Brown, Elder of the Baptist Church in this town,
He was one of the original proprietors of the Providence Purchase
Having been exiled from Massachusetts
for CONSCIENCE sake
He had five sons, John, James, Jeremiah, Chad & Daniel;
who have left a numerous posterity,
He died about AD 1665
This monument was erected by the town of Providence, November, 17??
