Special to The State

Union, Aug 20,-- Mrs. Alvin W. Gilmore was killed, her son Aubrey probably fatally injured and three young daughters were hurled violently to the ground this afternoon when an automobile in which the five occupants were riding collided with Southern railway passenger train No 27 at a dangrous crossing one and a half miles below Santue.

The engine and one coach had passed when the autoobile ran up the steep grade and squarely into the second coach of the fast running train.  The train was stopped and the injured were taken aboard.

Mrs Gilmore died before the train rached Union.  The young man was carried on to the hospital in Spartanburg and a message just received here gives some hope of his recovery.

The three young girls escaped, it is thought without serious bodily har, although they are badly bruised and broken.  Young gilmore was driving the auto and his sister was riding on the front seat.

A message over the telephone brought Mr Gilmore to Santue in time for him to take train No 13, which arrives here 40 minutes behind no 27.

The Gilmore house is near Neal Shoales.  Mr Gilmore is one of the county's prosperous planters and a proinent citizen of Union County.

Mrs Gilmore was Miss Willie Eston before her marriage and came here from Mississippi when a small girl, after the death of her parents in that State.
