John C Pettit Sr.

Union--John Calvin Pettit Sr., 90, husband of the late Estelle Johns Pettit, of Union Route 1, died Thursday morning in Spartanburg Gereral Hospital after a long illness.

Native of Polk County, N. C.;  son of the late Robert C and Susan Bishop Pettit; retired textile employee and farmer; member of Welcome Baptist Church.

Surviving;  daughters, Mrs. Laura Jenkins of Union, Mrs. Eula Johnes of Detroit, Mich,; sons, Robert of Kalamazoo, Mich., Jasper and WEsley of Detroit, John C. of Rome, Ga., David pettit Sr, of Union; 31 trandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren.

Services 3 Saturday at Welcome Baptist Church by the Revs, Billy Cole and Jessie D. Stephens; burial in Beulah Baptist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers;  John Jenkins, J. W., Jackie, Franklin, Bobby and David Pettit;  members of Adult Men's Sunday School Class will serve as honorary escort.

After 2 today, the body will be at the home of his son, David Pettit Sr., Route 1, Mill Shoals Road:  body in church 2 Saturday.
