SOURCES: Web sources, family members and contacts and a
book by Ella Lee Hudson Osborne.
NOTES: Jeff Day served in the 9th Infantry w/ Col. William H. Young.
Captured Sep. 19, 1863 at the battle of Chicamauga. He was taken as prisoner to
Camp Douglas, Chicago, IL. It is difficult to determine from his records whether
he escaped, was exchanged or spent his days in prison. Per Ella Osbourne, "In
Remembrance of Our Ancestors": "A postoffice was built in (Brazos Point) in 1873
and Jefferson (Jeff) A. Day was named the first postmaster." (Brazos Point was
just north of Kopperl. After Louisa Stanford Day's death, Jefferson had another
family with Georgia Stearns. He had 7children with Georgia in Bosque Co., Tx.
and one after they moved to Denton Co., TX. The only evedince that I have seen
that "Jeff" and "Janie" had a daughter named Renben is from Ella Osborne's book,
where she states that "Jeff Allen Day had a daughter Renben that also married
Wash Hudson." Would appreciate information on anyone mentioned in this group
sheet.
