August the 9 1875

 Dear uncle I seat my self to write you a few 
lines for the first time in life to let you no that I am well and I am verry well
pleased with this country out here
the times, is pretty hard here now
but the are good crops out here
wheat is selling at one dollar a bushel
and corn is one dollar a bushel
horses is cheap but cattle is hier here
than the are down there
you told me to send you some
wheat but I havent got eny yet
the aint none in this country but I heard
of some in hill ? (ink spot) but I havent had time
to get to see it I think it is the rust proof
the said it was the california
wheat and it is all the same I think
well uncle Jim I doant no when I can go
down there but I cant go this year
uncle Ben is talking a bout going next

fall and Pink says he wants to go
but I dont think he will get off he is
getting a long very well he has got a good
crop and he made a good wheat crop to
well I will come to a close
you must write and tell all of
the rest to write
