We notice in the daily press where G.T. Bludworth, president of the Meridian College, was nominated to
the office of county superintendent of public instruction of Tarrant county.
Koss Barry and N. Green of Walnut, were here Wednesday attending a meeting of the Fair Directors.
Mrs. J.A. Peace, Mrs. Jim Rushing, Miss Mattie Barry and Miss Daisy Morris, of Walnut Springs were
visitors in the city.

Rev. B.F. Moon, of Whitney has accepted a call to the pastorate of the Baptist church at this place for
full time, beginning first Sunday in September. He will move here about that time. We extend Rev. Moon
and family a hearty welcome to Meridian.

D.J. Cutbirth, county clerk on Bosque county and Miss Ruby Jane Nichols of Morgan were united in
marriage at Morgan on last Tuesday evening at 6 o’clock.

Constable arrested one Oliver (col) last Monday on a charge of hypothecating several mattresses and
other articles of value from a freight train that was wrecked near town several days ago. He carried him to
Meridian and placed him in jail Tuesay morning.

While swimming in the Bosque river last Tuesday afternoon Pleas Wommack was bitten on the right hand
by a water moccasin from which he was quite sick for a while. He immediately put a cord around his
wrist and cut off circulation and left for town where he received medical attention.

Tuesday moring about 8 o’clock, Raymond Burch while attempting to crank an auto belonging to Cap
Pander, left his arm slip and broke same. He was attended by Dr. Goodall, who set the break and he is
doing nicely. About two years ago, Raymond happened to the misfortune of getting both arms broken
just above the wrist and this will naturally cause this injury to be more serious.

Gus Savage was here from Houston this week visiting home folks.

William Lawson of Midlothian, a tailor, has located in Walnut Spring to locate a business here.

Mrs. J.F. Williams is visiting her daughter, Mrs. S.A. Boyd at Sulphur Springs.

E.P. Jones and family have moved back from Waco. Mr. Jones has been employed at the Katy shops at
Waco.
