Mrs. B.A. Burdette was 85 years old Monday, Oct. 1st, and the members of the Woman's Missionary Society of the Baptist Church, of which she is a member arranged to give her a surprise party.
In order that the aged lady be fixed up so as to be ready to receive her guest, her daughter, Mrs. J.P Jordan, with whom she is making her home, told her to get ready and when Mr. Jordan came with the horse they would take a little drive.
When all the visitors had arrived and talked awhile with each other, "Jesus Lover of My Soul" was sung, after which Mrs. T.L. Dunlap lead in a very fervent prayer, after which Mrs. J.W. Bowden made a very appropriate talk in behalf of the long and useful life of the aged honoree.
Now comes Mrs. H.L. Latimer, with a basket of very appropriate gifts which had been brought in by the many guest and presented to Mrs. Burdette, the aged honoree, as a token of our love and esteem for her.
