William Lycurgus Lester LaFON
Son of Richard LAFON & Elizabeth Atwell HATCHER.  He was born JUL 1846 in Lewis Co., MO, & died 1910 in Headrick, Jackson Co. OK.  Both of his parents were dead by the time he was about 4 years old. He had a trust that had been set up by his father, the administrator of his trust sold everything he had and I guess pocketed the money for 'his raising.' He drifted to Illinois and then to Bosque Co. TX at the age of fourteen. It was during the Civil War and he was jailed for two months for being a northern spy. They found out he was only a young boy with no home or parents so they let him go. William married in 1875, in Bosque Co. to:

Daughter of Edward Spencer NEW & Mary Catherine PETERSON, was born 7 AUG 1856 in Gallatin Co. KY, and died 6 AUG1928 in Jackson Co., OK.  Burial: Altus City Cem. Altus, Jackson Co.,  OK
